Just so you know, Mark Romanek is the only one of those directors who made his debut in the 21st century. Are you talking about best director who made his debut in the 21st century, or just the director who's dominated it so far? If we're talking debut, then Mark Romanek. If not, then it's way too early to tell.

Robert Rodriguez will (and is) be kicking some serious ass in the 21st Century. A man with lots of talent, and people will finally reconize it.

I can say with confidence that it won't be Fincher or Tarantino. They already made big impressions in the 90's, and unless they keep making movies for another 35 years, meaning lots of classics, they won't define a century when they barely defined the 90's.
My feeling is that whoever defines 2000-2099, it'll be someone who actually debuts their first movie in the 2000's, and more likely, is born then to

I'm going with Darren Aronofsky, since REQUIEM FOR A DREAM is my favorite film so far this Millennium.
Paul Thomas Anderson's last great film (MAGNOLIA) was released during the tail end of 1999 (although I saw it in January of 2000), so he'll have to do better than the mediocre, meandering PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE. Tarantino is always a contender (can't wait to see Uma KILL BILL!), the Wachowski brothers need another BOUND-style film noir hit after the MATRIX trio is completed, and Christopher Nolan needs more than the average, bloodless INSOMNIA to keep up the MEMENTO momentum.

not to sure I understand the topic but directors with the most 10/10's so far in the 21st century for me are
Peter Jackson and Cameron Crowe.
