Disney Treasure Tins are the money makers. They only make 150,000 of each tin and on each of them they will have a characters complete set of cartoons. Like the Complete Goofy Tin has every goofy cartoon ever made.

Yes.... the Disney treasures are very cool. I have Goofy and Mickey in B&W myself. Anyway, the treasures don't really count. Of your harping on regular disney movies, Snow White has a very nice disk and as you may or may not have heard, The Lion King will be released shortly on a lovely looking Platinum disk. A Bug's Life got a very nice treatment in July, but I have the much superior limited edition from earlier. Aladdin comes next year and Delfonics I know you love it. I think Bambi also gets the Platinum treatment next year. Disney also seems to be taking the Warner route, and reissuing Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Poccahontus and Lilo and Stitch in special edition DVD early next year. Set for a special release in the next couple years, Black Cauldron, Robin Hood, Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan, Fantasia and Pinocchio will also get dvd reissues/new releases. Look for them. All 41 current films should be out by 2005.

I must say that I haven't bought many Disney DVD's. The first one I purchased was Sleeping Beauty (Platinum Edition) and must say that it's got some nice features. An interactive game, the choice to watch the movie in widescreen or regular version, storybording etc. Very nice double disk set. I was thinking about getting the Beauty and the Beast DVD as that is my second fav. Disney movie.

The Fantasia Anthology's pretty nice, and it's going out of print soon, so if you're into that kind of thing, I'd pick it up sharpish.

Ultimate Disney (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/) is a great site for all things, well, Disney :o and will tell you everything you need to know and more.

Yeah, it is disappointing, but it's still a very nice set. The Lion King DVD doesn't have the original theatrical cut on it either, and I think their making some changes for the upcoming Little Mermaid Platinum disc.

What the hecks up with them editing all this stuff? Are they just editing the small artist "errors" that slipped through?

Snow White is still fairly easy to find, they just aren't printing it anymore.

From DVD File (http://www.dvdfile.com/software/review/dvd-video_7/lionking.html):

But first, one caveat: recently retooled for an IMAX theatrical re-release, the team at Disney went back and reanimated certain sections of the film to take advantage of the high resolution afforded by the IMAX format. A new song, "The Morning Report," was also included, upping the film's runtime to 90 minutes. However, for this DVD, Disney has not restored the original theatrical version, per se; you can watch the film either with or without the new tune, but it is still the animation is still of the IMAX'd variety only.

I've not seen the IMAX thing, but apparantly it makes the "SFX" in the clouds look less like "SEX", or something.

It's not a big deal, really, but I don't see why the couldn't have the original animation, even if this is "better"

Not long to wait for The Lion King now (my sooper dooper box set is "packaging" right now) - psyched. If anyone's interested, and even if you're not, amazon.co.uk are giving a free beanie babie with the DVD.
