I don't ever tell people about my ideas for things like this, but this time I don't think it completly sucks. :D First of all, my idea is about a killer Scarecrow. I'm not sure how many killer scarecrow movies there are, but I have never seen one. If this sounds too similar to somethin let me know. Now, the story...

Okay, some guy who lives and works in a "big city" unexpectingly has to travel out to the country where his family lives because his mother suddenly died. Turns out someone that his family pissed off (Still workin on who exactly) put a curse on their farm to make their scarecrow come to life at night and kill anythig that stands in it's way. Only catch is the Scarecrow can NOT enter their house. It has to stay outside. So at night the Scarecrow stalks the family from the outside, scarring the shit out of them through windows and what not. The main's character's mom who died was actually killed by the Scarecrow because she was outside after dark. Before the main character thought it was just a freak accident in the barn. Eventually the family makes a big mistake and the Scarecrow is allowed to enter the house. (Again, still working on the whole Scarecrow coming alive and rules that apply to it thing) After the Scarecrow can walk on in, all hell breaks loose. I've already thought of two very cool and graphic death sequences. Now I just need to know if my idea sucks or not and/or has something like this has been done before?

There was a movie called 'Scarecrows' but I never saw it.

To buissness. I think your idea is very amusing to say the least (for a movie, not a book ;)), sounds like a campy 'fun times' horror movie. But: you might want to think something else to bring the scarecrow to life (the 'pissed guy at family' thing is kinda weak because I know if I was pissed at some family I'd do something more than use black magic to make a scarecrow kill the poor schmucks). Work on the 'whys' like Why can't it enter the house? I dunno, probably because the family keeps an object inside the house that makes the scarecrow unable to come in (but the family doesn't know why the scarecrow is afraid to enter) you can link this object to the reason why this all happened in the first place.

I like the little twist on 'she was killed by the scarecrow and that's why he came'...pretty fun. And I am asuming there are some cool deaths in the dish.

Overly, you can work on the plot and make a very fun ride...if you decide to make a screenplay, you can ask me if you need any help, good luck.

Yeah I read Arrow's review for that Scarecrow movie; didn't sound like this. There was 3 crows and it involved bank robbers or something.

Also, that person that the family pissed off; I had a little disturbed old lady in mind for that. I havn't named any of the characters yet and I'm not sure how many people are in this guy's extended family, but so far the characters are like this...

Main Character- Businessman in his mid-twentys.
The Dad- Depressed father who just lost his wife
Drunken Uncle
Paranoid Aunt

I'm definetly adding more characters, probly a cousin mainly. Thanks for the advice though, that really helped. I'm gonna try and write a screenplay for this. I've never written one before, but I think it'd be easier than a book.

BTW, do you know of any web sites that have tutorials or somethin on how to write screenplays exactly?
