View Full Version : What's The Goriest and Most Violent Horror Movie Ever Made?

Reloaded

The most gory and violent movie I've seen was Freddy Vs. Jason. That movie had some of the nastiest stuff ever seen on a movie screen. Final Destination 2 was gory and very violent but there weren't over 10 kills so I can't really consider that.

No offense, but you haven't seen much horror movies, have you?

Having read a topic somewhere else in this forum, I think MORDUM could be on top of the violence&gore list. But I haven't seen it yet.

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST also has a lot of disturbing violence and gore in it, and BRAINDEAD a.k.a. DEAD ALIVE has a lot but it's mostly cartoon violence and not really disturbing.

There a German flick out a few years ago and its supposed to be the goriest flick ever made.. I think its Das Kombrutelle, or something..

Either way, you should check out Dead Alive. Its OOOODLES of fun!

Ahhh the thread that I always respond to: The goriest of the gory.

Dead Alive, Bad Taste, The Evil Dead, Riki- Oh: The Story Of Riki.

I haven't seen them but i've heard that the Japanese Guinea Pig series of movies contain some very extreme and realistic scenes. I started a thread on a movie called Mordum which sounds like a pretty good candidate for goriest movie ever made. The dude who reviewed the movie for Rue Morgue magazine (I posted a scan of the review in that thread) had to stop the movie three times before it was over (once because his wife came in during a scene where one of the serial killers was forcefeeding a bound and blood soaked victim her own shit). So...I guess either the Guinea Pig movies or, more likely, Mordum are the most violent and gory movies in existence.

^^ Almost the same choices! Day of the Dead, specially for the end!! We can add Braindead (Dead Alive), this is gory as hell, very violent and strong mature images! The Johnsons (when I saw this very young like at 11 years old) I was scarried a lot! It's very brutal in some aspects!

Das Komabrutale Duell is by far the goriest movie ever made. This goes LEAGUES beyond Braindead. This has gore and violence in EVERY SINGLE SCENE! There is not a dry minute in the entire flick!
Also this Mordum you seem to be describing sounds cool. I wonder if by chance you are refering to the second August Underground flick. I think that goes by Mordum. The first one which was barbaric as all hell did feature a scene like you described though. That was a very insane movie but gorewise it's far from the worst.
I tell yea, I've seen so many f*cked up movies to come out of Japan and Germany I've almost abandoned American movies altogether! ;)

The Evil Dead and Braindead (Dead-Alive) are at the top of the list for goriest films. Most of Lucio Fulci's films including Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead (Gates of Hell), The Beyond and The House by the Cemetery are full of gory and gruesome horrors.
Other good gory films are:
Re-Animator
Bad Taste
Dawn of the Dead
Day of the Dead
Demon Knight
From Dusk Till Dawn
Any Cannibal film
Hellraiser
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 Unrated Version
Riki-OH: The Story of Ricky

I suspect highly the most violent and gory movies are very underground. Think of the videos Nick Cage came across in 8MM. I really doubt the worst of the worst are in hands of us or Blockbuster video. Pop culture is not known for it's extreme violence after all. Only sickos make the good stuff! ;)

Come to think of it, Men Behind the Sun was pretty f*cked up. When they premiered it in China they didn't tell anybody what the movie was about and as I understand it, over half the people walked out and other half was in a state of total shock by the end. This one ain't for lightweights.

Hey Klown. I like your taste in flicks. Those are great titles. Nekromantik is pretty foul. I agree but I can't help finding it somewhat funny at the same time. Am I crazy or is there some dark humor there? Especially where he thrashes the cat in the garbage bag. I about laughed myself onto the floor when I saw that scene.

Have any of you seen May? It went straight to video and the only person in it I recognized was Anna Faris from Scary Movie . In May the guy that the lead girl is seeing shows her a film that he made. Its a scene actually of a couple at a picnic and they are literally eating each, but are getting sexual gratification from doing it. I watched the rest of the movie (unfortunately) but that scene stayed just made me sick to my stomach.

Yes, that scene was rather disturbing. Cool in a sense but sick. I really loved how the film ended with her eye falling off the man she made and the way he touches her at the end. That's what I call marvelously twisted.

Ichi the Killer hasn't been mentioned yet. Not sure if it is the most bloody film ever but it does have extreme violence in most scenes. The director splashed the insides of a cow around one of the sets to make it look better. Lovely.

I've almost abandoned American movies altogether!

Two words: Beyond Reanimator. Again maybe not the goriest film ever but not that far away from it either.

The full title of Mordum is August Underground: Mordum so yes it is the sequel and supposedly it is much worse than the first. I'll have to pick up those 2 movies one of these days but I suspect they will be very hard to find.

Some of the Goriest/Most violent movies I have seen are:

Dead Alive
Cannibal Holocaust (not amazingly gory, just intense)
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Day of the Dead
Terror Firmer
Citizen Toxie
Susperia
Zombi 2

I'm going out in a couple of days and getting the Nekrmantic movies so I'm sure they are about to be added onto the list.

While I enjoy FreddyvsJason and Final Destination 2 very much they are both pretty tame when it comes to the gore.Any film that is a mainstrem/theatrical release and gets an R from the MPAA hear in the good ol USA is like an episode of The Brady Bunch compared to the stuff you'll find in the underground and foreign markets.

heres my list though:

Even Horizon

Candyman
House of 1000 Corpses (well it would have been damned MPAA)

....more to come when i get home.

I would consider Freddy vs Jason having the coolest gore (maybe) but not the most gore. There are WAY too many horror films that rule that one out.

There have been some nice titles brought up here...have to agree on Ichi the Killer, Battle Royal, Cannibal Holocaust, and some others for having heavy doses of the *goodies* in em.

I hope I dont get thrown in the Arrow jail for listing a non-horror movie but if I were to pick a single movie for.... rock solid in-your-face sweet-as-fuck gore I would pick Shootfighter. I've mentioned this one before (when i was beastmaster). If you enjoyed Mortal Kombat(midway game) at all then you'll have a blast with this one. It's pretty much a tournament movie, cool fighters, basic revenge story, and a shit load of quality fatalities.

TheJadedGamer

Battle Royale. Its not as gory as some movies, but when you look at who is doing most of the killing, teenagers, you have to sit back and think.

Nekroman

I've already said this but I'll say it again. There is a german movie called Das Komabrutale Duell. Anybody who sees this automatically files Braindead, Premutos, and all the other contenders away. This one has gore in every single scene. Braindead has many goreless scenes that are there to establish plot. Das Komabrutale Duell doesn't waste that time. There is not one single dry minute in the entire movie. You got these guys who can't die who get in this battle. Arms are hacked off, heads, every body part you could imagine. Then their friends just go and glue them back together (literally) and they are good to go again!
You see fetuses yanked out of woman and squashed, you see heads split wide open. You get the point. I see all these foreign movies that would make Jack Valente puke in his shorts. Another extremely gory one by the director of Premutos is called the Burning Moon and is notorious for having a nine minute nonstop gore scene. Das Komabrutale Duell is basically that scene extended as a feature length gore movie. Maybe this topic should have been titled "What's the goriest horror movie YOU"VE seen?" because trust me people. All those movies are Rugrats episodes compared to this.

Nekroman

I'm actually starting to worry about myself.
I just clicked on the link, nekro (and slowly regretting having done that, expecting something horrible), and whatever those pictures were are pretty tame. Granted I didn't click or try to enlarge them, but from what I saw, the gore was very cartoony (a good thing), so obviously it wouldn't get anything out of me but a chuckle.

Dawn of the dead and Day of the Dead didn't even make me twitch . . . I somewhat enjoyed Day's stuff (mainly because most of it was obviously some fake body they lined with guts) . . .

I wonder . . . if I checked out some of these so called "disgusting" movies would I not really be repulsed? That's an awful thought . . . no, I refuse to believe it. But those pictures didn't get any rise out of me in the slightest.

Nekroman
10-02-2003, 09:43 PM
No, you'd be right in a sense. It isn't shocking gore but bucket for bucket there's more gore there than I've ever seen before. There's one scene I laughed at that had this guy with an electric chainsaw cutting into this guy's shoulder. What was so funny was there was no chain on the blade and it was a very obvious effect but don't let that turn off.
About what you said about maybe not being shocked at movies. I know in the other thread I can come off as this psycho guy who doesn't twitch and doesn't have any sympathy. But I started watching extreme movies with Cannibal Holocaust and I wasn't all that bothered by it. I expected so much worse and I realized that at least for me, my imagination of how nasty a movie is is usually far beyond the reality of it. I don't know if I just have a twisted imagination or what but with the exception of Men Behind the Sun I've never really had my expectations met when it came to the extreme.
My biggest downfall is my curiosity. I watch every movie that I hear is extreme. Some are. Some aren't.
But getting back to Das Komabrutale Duell, although I admit the gore isn't too convincing, it does come at you nonstop from beginning to end and for that reason I nominate it as goriest. Everybody I've sent copies to agrees too.

question for izombie or lord crumb...

i was wondering if Shootfighter would be okay for me to review in the "horror reviews" board. i noticed that Arrow has reviewed Mortal Kombat and considering Shootfighter is so similar to this (only with much more gore), is it alright to review such a martial arts movie since everyone seems to talk about gore, gore, and more gore?
