View Full Version : Am I the only one pissed off by the TCM remake?

I mean, whats the point? A classic like that should be left untouched, period. I have a hard time believing it could be any good, at all. I just noticed that alot of horror fans are welcoming the remake. Opinions?

i understand where your coming from...though i saw nothing too great in the original, and i wouldnt have cared about a remake, along the lines that it actually looked good and solid,in terms that this remake doesnt...

The original is still there so I don't see the problem. It's not like all copies of the original movie are going to be hunted down and eradicated. I honestly don't have a problem with remakes. Like any movie they will either be worth seeing or they won't. End of story.

Like Psychocandy said, it isn't worth hating a movie simply because it is a remake. Sure, those are dollars that could've been spent in a slightly more original way, but regardless, the original will always be there.
You can hate the remake if you like, but I prefer not to judge a film until I've seen it.
Or until I see that Joel Schumaker is directing it.

I'd have to agree with everyone else - it isn't as if the original version will be wiped from existence or anything. Granted, I may be the only person in the world who hasn't seen the original (though, with a rental, I plan to change that soon), but it still is probably nothing to get pissed off over.

I suddenly picture Leatherface with nipples.

Does it bother me? Nah, not really. I can see how the idea of a remake would be a desecration to some, but since I thought the original TCM was just an okay picture, re-doing it now doesn't seem that bad. Judging from the trailer, the flick even looks pretty damn good.

I love the original, but I think this one looks excellent.

Now that the release is coming closer, I've dropped all my hate againist this.
But don't get me started about the Dawn of the Dead remake...*shudders*

You're not the only one pissed, but I'm not pissed at this new remake. It actually looks quite good, and this is from a non-horror fan

Hey! I loved the original, and I'm psyched to see the remake, but I am kind of pissed off as well. But.... as long as it isn't as bad as Psycho '98, I'm okay.

i agree that a classic should be left alone instead of a terrible remake possibly ruining the movies reputation. but also the trailer looked excellent so its kinda 50/50 for me.

The remake looks like a loving homage to the original and will no doubt be a much better movie, at least for me.
I didnt care much for the original, it has been overrated and overblown by too many people building it up to be something its not.

I'm very excited for the remake, it looks very very good. Even though it probably won't be as good as the original because the great thing about the original is that it was made in '74 and its got that rustic atmosphere from horror movies in the 70's.
Ive got high hopes for this remake and plus we get to see jessica biel in really tight jeans!
