Yup. I've been checking out the new album from Debbie Harry and Co. I like what i've been hearing. It rocks when it has to (sometimes surprisingly so) and it's poptastic in all the right places. Debbie is in fine voice and the quality of the songs throughout are way better than they have any right to be coming from a band who have never been known for their consistancy albumwise (i've always thought of them as more of a singles band with the exception of a couple of early albums). This is great though. The perfect fusion of old style Blondie with modern songwriting and production values.

I love every song on this album. It's so much better than I would have ever thought possible. Golden Rod isn't even close to being the best song on the album.
Stunning opening track Shakedown grabs you by the short and currlies and damn well refuses to let go until the surging climax (oo-er). Then there's Good Boys...a song that effortlessly outclasses every single sucking second of Madonna's last album. Then Undone comes in with Debbie's vocals riding a tune so fucking addictive they should distil it's essence and put it in soft drinks instead of caffeine. Next up Golden Rod. A slight comedown after the precise perfection of the opening salvo but a glorious racket nonetheless. Quality song after quality song follow right up until the gloriously dischordant final track with it's stream of thought lyrics and random saxaphone.
I can honestly say that this album came right out of the blue. I've always loved Blondie as a singles band and didn't honestly expect them to produce an album that hangs together this well so late in the day. I didn't even download it for myself. I downloaded it for a colleague at work then though, "What the hell...might as well give it a shot". I'm glad I did.

It's amazing.
The Tingler and Hello Joe are modern classics! Debbie's voice is so different now, but more developed and richer.
GO BLONDIE!
