Well last night I got home from work to find out that my friend had an extra Radiohead Ticket. I overjoyed as much as one could be after hearing such news Galloped off to see them. It was exactly how I thought it would be. I loved the few songs they played from ok computer and before. The rest sort of gave me a head ache. It was quite painful to watch actually. It was still fun to see Yorke prance around on stage to the music though.... It was worth it all to see paranoid Android live. Which remided me of how much I used to love this band and why they broke my heart when they lost their muse. So anyone else see them recently and what are your thoughts?
Oh and Supergrass opened and blew massive colon. Ugh :)

Well that's not exactly the best review I've ever heard bowieee :p. I am seeing them for the first time in about a week so I hope it's enjoyable. I am not sure what to entirely expect since I too love their earlier stuff and not as much their past few albums, except for Hail To The Thief which I did like.

Do you have a playlist of what they played?
I'm seeing them soon and I worry about the playlist...

They played alot of the hail to the thief album to start off the show. I wasn't sure which song was what since I haven't bought an album since ok computer of theirs but my friends gave me an update on which songs were from what albums. The show is mostly post ok computer stuff but they did a blistering and I mean fucking blistering rendition of Paranoid android. Also they played Just, and karma Police. My friends girlfriend is a die hard RH fan and she really really liked the show. Honestly if I could get into their newer stuff it would have been amazing. You can tell Yorke is passionate about what he sings about as well as wanting to put a on a great show. I'm sure both of you two will have a blast. The reason I was a little bit critical was issues I had with not clicking with the material but as a band they put on a really good show. :) Have fun!

He did it as an encore and had the audience join him in a rousing sing along acapella at the end. One of the shows highlights in my eyes.

Judging from Bowieee's post, being the Radiohead geek I am and having the resources... cause, you know, I'm a Radiohead geek, here be the playlist for Bowieee's show:
2+2=5
sit down. stand up
where i end and you begin
lucky
myxomatosis
kid a
sail to the moon
talk show host
paranoid android
just
no surprises
go to sleep
scatterbrain
you and whose army?
idioteque
the gloaming
there there
Encore #1:
pyramid song
the national anthem
a punchup at a wedding
how to disappear completely
Encore #2:
karma police
everything in its right place
Sounds like a mighty fine show to me and kinda diverse, though mainly from post-Ok Computer
6 songs from Kid A, 5 from Ok Computer, 10 from HTTT, 2 from Amnesiac, 2 from The Bends...
Wow, I'm a dork ;)
And yeah, I'm seeing them this Saturday... I'd love to hear some older stuff, though it really wouldn't bother me too much if they didn't.

I think Radiohead is the 4th best band of all time...I get screwed out of row 21 reserved seats.
Bowieee thinks Radiohead are okay, doesn't care for their newer stuff, and gets a free ticket.

i didnt mind the stuff off The Bends. and i did like one of the songs off the new album. but everything in the middle kinds of descends into one, long dirge. just dont appeal to me much, other than the odd song. but i will never own up to actually liking those odd songs.

I saw a Radiohead concert during their Amnesiac tour and they were good, and then they got a bit indulgent toward the end. I'm not kidding when I say this, they turned Fitter Happier into a 10 minute thing. Some concert experimentation is cool, this was just ridiculous. Did they do that with you?

I don't like how Radiohead act like their guitar based stuff did'nt exisit, or they're embarassed of it. The concert I saw we only saw two songs from the Bend's era, Street Spirit and Just. I do prefer the new stuff, but still, you cant' just pretend a significant part of your catalogue doesn't exist?? Incubus has completely sold out, but when I saw them play they play lots of their older stuff....shame on you Radiohead

If they play any of the following tomorrow night, I'll be a VERY happy boy:
Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Climbing Up The Walls
Just
The Tourist
True Love Waits
Paranoid Andriod, Idioteque and Karma Police are played just about every show, especially the first two... so I'm not worried about that.
... if they only played Let Down live.
A boy can dream.

Bends was 8 years ago, dude. Yes, that long. As much as I'd love to hear Bullet Proof... I Wish I Was or Planet Telex, the chances aren't likely. They've had 4 albums since, that's ALOT of songs.
But hey... I wish they could play at least 4 songs from every album. That'd be orgasmic. Doubt it would happen, though.

My best friend back in Miami, just sent me an email after attending Saturday's West Palm Beach show. I think this is a good critique of the show.
(Forgive the typos, he was happy. And don't ask about the Bob Hope reference.)
"Last night was was fucking religious girl, I have never felt so happy in the longest time. Not since the death of Bob Hope has my life had any meaning. the thing I told you was that I would never ever drive back to that forsaken place in West Palm Beach and like the stupid fucker I am, I did. So its me, Mark and Craig parked with looks like the white people from FIU and FAU and UM and UF so again more drunk whote people. well aftre some joints in the aftrenoon and at the parking lot we go ahead and wander in im already buzzed by the pain killers the doctor gave me for my migraines. So here comes Supergrass and its crap, I mean Noel Gallagher was drunk enough to commit sododmy on a cat bad. Well after they left and a beer here, it comes, lights dim and the guitar check and they start off with 2+2=5, Sit down and stand up, some other things I dont remember they pumped out Just and Street Spirit and Talk Show Host and Airbag and Karma Police and the fuckers Idioteque was the highlight for me dancing around and no "E", it felt like a rave and like Craig quotes, "Thom Yorke sexed up West Palm Beach". The odd looking guy is a fucking God ok, a fucking God! So remember take pics much pics "
I think I'm gonna have myself some fun on Thursday:)

I think I may be the only person who is at all disappointed in the Radiohead concert. Don't get me wrong, it rocked, but it felt very false. Something about the other concerts I've attended felt as though the musicians were very authentic, and enjoying what they were doing...and this just felt...like Thom Yorke has turned into a *gasp* rock star.
Idioteque was quite cool, and the concert was a great one...but...it was a mixed evenin' for this schmoe :(
PS. If anyone wants to get close to seeing a dancing bunny milking a kangaroo; watch Thom Yorke dance :D

I was at the same show and even though I enjoyed it, I can understand where you're coming from Annie. The setlist was made up of mostly Hail to the Thief songs. It's understandable since it is the album the tour is promoting, but I guess a lot of people were looking foward to a good mix of the old and new. In the end though I'd say the positives outweighed the negatives. Talk Show Host was amazing as was Street Spirit. Thom seemed to be in a playful mood and yes his dancing skills were good for a laugh (Michael Jackson watch out!..here comes Thom:p) Hopefully they will come back down again one day.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the show as much as the rest of us did. I don't know about him being "false" and a "rock star" and all that but I just know they that they know how to rock the house and give the best live performance ever.

I had a hell of a time, that's all I could ask for. I thought it was great seeing Thom in an energetic, "rock star" modd, instead of being standoff-ish and moody. He was joking around, dancing like a mad man, playing with the crowd... it was a blast and the band seemed to be having a great time.
Hail to the Thief material didn't really blow me away, besides Backdrifts, The Gloaming and A Wolf at the Door... I wish they could've played more earlier stuff, but it's the HTTT tour, just like they had an Amnesiac and Ok Computer tour. That's the way it goes.
The highlights of the show:
- Thom making his faces and giving the camera the finger during You and Whose Army... fuckin' classic.
- Phil, the bald, smoothly dressed drummer, dancing next to his drum machine during Backdrifts... hilarious.
- Street Spirit, Just, Talk Show Host, Everything In It's Right Place, Idioteque, Karma Police (crowd singalong), Paranoid Andriod and probably Backdrifts...
- The stage catching FIRE during Idioteque!!
I had a hell of a time and besides the heavy HTTT setlist, I can't complain, though that's really expected... the energy, performance, HUGE ass crowd, Thom having fun, never thought I'd hear Talk Show Host live, the awesome lights...
Hopefully they'll be back before another 8 years pass...

I checked a website that has their entire setlist on this tour and they played BOTH karma police and fake plastic trees at many shows. I will fucking die of happiness if they play both of those songs at the concert tomorrow night. There was zero instances of High & Dry and very few of Creep, so I don't have much hope for either of those being played at the one I'm going to. But seriously if they play none of my favorite songs I am going to be all kinds of pissed. Just ONE, that's all I ask!

Got to work with them in '96, at Roseland....... great show. Sound guy did a righteous mix. Havent heard one note of their music since. None of my friends are big fans, so no ones pushed them on me. Amazing fucking show. I couldn't have possibly asked for a more entertaining energetic rockin' concert. Before I went to see Radiohead in concert, I was expecting more of a melancholy poetic mellow type of a show, but it was nothing like that at all. It was better. It was like taking 5 hits of E and bouncing around a rave with one of the greatest bands ever doing the music for it. I don't think I've ever danced so much or had as much fun at a concert.
I cannot locate a setlist for the show last night, so I don't think any were posted yet. If anyone knows it, please post.
Not only did they play Karma Police which I was dying to hear all night-- but they ALSO played Fake Plastic Trees and I nearly hit the ceiling. That was definitely an unexpected wonderful surprise. And it sounds just gorgeous live.
Here were the highlights of the concert for me:
*Fake Plastic Trees
*Paranoid Android
*Karma Police
*National Anthem
*Idioteque
*Everything In Its Right Place

Some other random tidbits from the show:
*The opening act was a group called Low. They were sooo draining and drab and booooring. My buddy electriclite and I were making motions of how to slice our wrists/arms when they were playing. Enough said.
*Some guy actually walked away from the concert holding one of the seats! Apparentrly he thought he would take one as a souvenir. Jackass :p
*I came about this close to buying one of the tiny cups of champagne with a strawberry in it for 7 bucks. It was just calling my name. But I ignored it. Popcorn sufficed.
*At the very end of the show, for Everything in its right place, they were playing the word "forever" over and over again on the screen. The whole show was very colorful and clubbish. I loved the vibe of the whole set. It made my energy through the roof.
*Thom did in fact bounce around like a cracked out kangaroo. How can you not love a guy who sings like an angel, looks like a weasel, and has the presence of a bunny rabbit with spasms?
