Does anyone know anything about what was cut from this specifically? I've heard that Clive Barker is working on a director's cut restoring up to 25 minutes to this classic.

I don't know, really but the movie itselfs is very good and underrated according to me.
And it is unusual to have a director ( Cronenberg ) who plays in a film, too.
The second part of the movie was the best.

i love this film, great story, great acting and a great second half
as for your question i think some plot scenes were cut for pacing reasons and a lot of gore, although im not completely sure

You know in the opening credits when the word "NIGHTBREED" goes across the screen, well all those weird creatures they show in the letters were cut from the film supposedly.

You know this movie just bored AND confused me. I guess I'm just impatient AND slow.

I liked Nightbreed but it needs to be released uncut.
By the way did anyone ever seen a Nightbreed comic that was released about 10 years ago????

I have every issue except #11 and Jihad ( the Nightbreed/Cenobite war) and a 3 issue marvel series called Hellbreed that had a Hellraiser story, a Nightbreed story and an interview
Standouts from the series were #13-16. Nightbreed vs. Rawhead Rex and #18-20 Hunters and Trophys ( about Werewolves)

Oh, and Cronenberg didn't direct it. Clive Barker did that himself.

Clive Barker directed the film himself. Cronenberg is in it because they are friends and mutual fans. There are also some references to Cronenberg movies in Nightbreed. (fe Videodrome)

Great film. One of the first genre movies I ever saw as a young lad. Was the start of a long addicition.

I gave a copy of this to a "close friend" of mine because it was one of his favourites. It's now one of his 3 year old kids favourites.

After talking with Doug Bradley about this film, I am under the impression that big studios just suck ass. He said Clive was very pissed and outraged that the studio cut many things from it for time. He had little control. The final straw for Bradley was them overdubbing all his dialogue. For some reason , they hired an actor to overdub all of his voice.
He said Clive felt like in the end he had never directed this movie and unfortunetly, Bradley really hates it. Didn't really like talking about it much.
I always felt it was uneven and cut weird. The characters are fricking amazing. I have the behind-the-characters book that is similar to the Hellraiser book that concentrates on the mythos of the characters and has AWESOME color photos of each character inidvidually.
Clive wrote a text on the origin of each character. So cool.
And Decker? Is that not one of the coolest, most evil looking images for a bad guy? I have longed to make that sick looking mas and go as him for Halloween. But - nobody would get it.

I'm not surprised to hear that the studio ruined the movie. I thought it sucked hard, and that was surprising given how wonderful Hellraiser was. I thought the characters were weak, the plot thin, and the view of the world adolescent. I felt like I was reading a comic book.

Not to be rude, but you think comics are "adolescent"? Man, you've got a lot to learn on that subject.
The movie has a lot to do about acceptance and being different, seeing how Clive Barker is gay.

Anytime I see it on Ebay, it's gone before I can place a bid. So thanks.

The movie was okay. The creatures were cool and the finale was exciting with some good action but the editing sucked ass (the gore scenes are very choppy) wasn't for the editing this movie would rock but it don't but still decent. 6/10

Really? I'm curious, what has been the bidding price? I paid $10 for the thing in '92.

Only seen it there a couple of times, price seems to vary depending on where it's coming from but I seem to remember prices ranging from $10-$30 on starting bids.

Yeah, you are right. That was a wild generalization on my part and I should have put my point differently.

Yeah, I got that, but I still think it sucks as a movie. Btw, I wish Barker would stick to characters who are gay men, since he tends to write them with so much more depth than he writes anyone else - at least, in that of his writing which I have seen. To be fair, I'm not up on his recent stuff.

It's cool. Have you read 'Cabal', the book that nightbreed is based on? If so, what did you think of that?

One of the best books i've read. But you know that, you gave it to me.
I felt it dragged at a few places. But i find most books do. And i'd love to learn more about the characters.
