Ok, Nick is one of Australias best commedians and has released two Australian big hits, The Wog Boy & The Wannabes (just released wannabes). He stared (and produced?) Wog Boy and Starred, produced and Directed Wannabes.
His movies are always funny but his best is The Wog Boy, probably because he has done "Wog" plays and "Acropolis Now" (tv series of a greek restaurant).
He's a big star here in Australia, but have you guys from other countries heard of him? And aussies, feel free to post what you think of him.

I think he's a big-noting unfunny tool personally.
But hey - to each their own.

Sorry rilocay, but I'm with The Rain Dog.
Nick G got hold of a one-trick-pony (poking inoffensive fluffy fun at his own ethnicity) and rode it for all it was worth. He therefore had large success with The Wog Boy, which came out a few years after folk realised the previously popular Acropolis Now sit-com wasn't that funny anymore.
Now he's hopped off the pony to create The Wannabes, which is conceptually weak, and from the incredibly unfunny clips I've seen, doesn't attract my interest at all. I'm yet to hear/read one objectively positive review, and Nick's TV spots to promote the film have been so not funny, it's not funny. He's not a funny bloke. He can write a little, but he can't act or do stand-up comedy.
I don't see how you can possibly consider The Wannabes a hit right now, as it only took in $360,000 in it's opening week, and I'd be surprised if it's made a remarkable recovery since. Filmbuff84 will prove me wrong/right on that with his next Aussie BO thread.
I agree with you that The Wog Boy - which grossed AUD $11,448,547 and was only behind The Dish in total box office for 2000 - was a hit, but I don't think Nick G was funny in it; more so the other characters. He shouud stick to writing 'wog' jokes for others. There seems to be a constant teen market for that stuff.

Well, it was kinda a hit...but i more or less said it because it wasnt a failure, and isnt that bad of a movie. I am italian, which is very similar to greeks, and im guessing thats where the wogs stuff gets me ammused. Even though i still enjoy acroplolis now, its true that it is no where as good as when it first came out.
And just on the talk of wogs n dat, what do you guys think of the pizza show and FAT pizza movie? PErsonally, the movie was a let down to the brilliant stuff they did in the series' so personally i luv it. And i kno alot of ppl dont find it amusing, but the first two series' were the most wathced aussie made show on tv that time!

Yeah, you're right. The Fat Pizza movie was no where near as good as the TV series. That's because it's difficult to stretch a one-joker (being ethnic) into three acts. The TV series was pretty fucking amusing at first, but was only ever going to be popular whilst it was 'novel'. Now it's just got it's die-hard fans.

Yeah I respect what the Pizza guys are trying to do with their comedy more than I actually enjoy it if you know what I mean...

Thats the point - he's a one joke wonder.
As is being exemplified by his current stunning failure at diversifying.

Bullseye. The man's not fooling anyone, either. If you blokes have Foxtel, the Showtime movie channel airs an interview with him flogging The Wannabes (all too fucking often). You should hear some of the shit he spouts about his 'diversification'. It's one cliche after another. Tool.

Worst part is shakamaker, from watching him - I think he may be so far up himself that he actually believes his own bullshit.
If anyone saw him flogginf The Wannabes on The Panel he came off as an arrogant precious artiste to me.
