hello there,
I bought this little puppie a couple of weeks ago and I was asking myself if anyone has seen the alternate ending. If so what did you think about it?

I actually like the S-Mart ending better, despite popular opinion. The original is VERY Evil Dead, but I just felt so bad for poor old Ash.

I've seen both endings and truthfully I liked the alternative ending it makes more sense then the released one. Ash screwed up on the instructions for removing the book from the graveyard and he screwed op on the instructions to get back to our time.
Now odn't get me wrong the S-Mart ending is good as well, I just like the alternative ending better.

I don't have the boomstick edition but I do have the director's cut bootleg edition. I think both endings are good but I prefer the apocalypse one because it fits with the tone of the series and sets the stage for a possible ED4.

Well It's now my time to reply and to admit that I prefer the s-mart ending to the alternate one. I mean the time travel shit was great and Sam Raimi did a great job with that scene but the last couple of seconds when Ash discovers his new world are way too deceiving.
I also think that the both ending work quite well with the spirit of the series.
The s-mart ending look a little bit like the first evil dead ending when Ash is attacked by a demon, and the alternate ending looks very much like the second evil dead ending with the time travel thing and the last couple of seconds that just blow you off.
But in the end the s-mart ending is way cooler and doesn't blow any possibilities for a new evil dead.

I like the S-Mart ending best. I hate to say it, because I think Raimi should have been allowed to give his movie any ending that he liked.
The S-Mart ending is very different ending from the ending of the other two episodes, but I thought Raimi's original ending was too close to the ending of number 2.

im actually tied myself. i think they should have used both, maybe while he was asleep, have him "dream" the Smart fight, and then, wake up. that would be cool.
Wait, one question, what is the difference between the Boomstick edition, and the directors cut bootleg????

the difference is the boomstick ed. has both the theatrical version and the directors cut; the bootleg ed. just has the directors cut.

S-Mart all the way... "hail to the king, baby". The other ending was stupid...after all he's been through, do they think Ash ISN'T going to count EXACTLY how many drops he took? I know I know, he got distracted by crumbling rocks...woo freakin' hoo

The holocaust ending kicked ass cos it went more with the movie style of humour and would set it up well for evil dead 4
