I've liked Hammer Horror ever since I saw Curse of the Werewolf, The Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula, and The Mummy.

"Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell" interests me because of its upcoming DVD release on October 21st. What are your thoughts on this movie?

I used this flick's poster as my wallpaper once, but that's all that I can contribute to this thread. It looks harmless enough. Is Cushing involved?

Yes, Cushing is in it. It was the last film in the Hammer Frankenstein series and the last film Terence Fisher directed for Hammer.

Ah, I'm officially intrigued. As far as Hammer's Frankie flicks go, I've only seen Curse, but Cushing's formidable performance has impelled me to dig deeper.

This is one of my favourite Hammer / Frankensteins .
From Cushings measured performance to the claustrophobic sets of the lunatic asylum , the whole thing perfectly ended the series .
Dave Prowse ( Darth Vadar ) plays the monster and it's pretty gory for Hammer . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

This was the second Hammer film I saw when I was a boy watching Creature Double Feature on a rainy Saturday afternoon. This is one of my favs from Hammer and the Creature is one of the better looking of all. This was Fisher's last film for Hammer as well as Cushing. There are uncut versions of this film but are very hard to find. Bottom line this film isn't all the bad, in which Hammer ended their Frankenstein films. I like the moody and claustraphobic sets as well as the performance of Cushing. In the opening, the graverobber has also played in the BBC scifi series, Dr. Who.

I actually had a official movie poster of this film once a time. maybe I still do, I have soooo many.

I too am a HUGE Hammer Horror film fan!

I just picked it up as well. It should make for toothsome viewing on Halloween night.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Most Frankenstein-fans don't like it 'cause the line of movies was narratively ended with Frankenstein must be destroyed (so I heard...). Even if this was an obvious cash-in on the series it's still a very good time. The insane asylm setting with it's many wacky characters is cool, Cushing is slightly more likeable than in the rest of the series and the monster looks hiliarous (it's actually played by the guy who later played Darth Vader!). I'd recommend this to any fan of the series.

Great movie. Cushing, as usual, makes a fantastic effort here. Was he made for these movies or what? I'm a sucker for Hammer flicks and as far as I'm concerned this is on par with Horror Of Dracula and if you know Hammer then that's saying something. You won't be disappointed.

I just watched it last night. It was great! I'm still wondering whether I like this or "The Curse of Frankenstein" as my favourite Hammer film.

I got this one on my high priority list of films to get...

I heard it was the last hammer film ever...and that it was a good film to end the whole Hammer film because it had great sets and atmosphere, like the first Hammer films.

I will purchase this one as soon as possible!

A couple of points I'd like to pick up on .
the narrative line did'nt end with Frankenstein Must be Destroyed.
Cushings badly burnt hands in The Monster from hell are a direct result of the previous films fiery finale .
It was'nt the last Hammer film .That was " The Lady Vanishes " in 1979 .Their last horror film was " To The Devil A Daughter " in 1976 .
Having said that I'd like to repeat myself and highly recommend Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell as one of Hammers very best .

Speaking of hammer, everything that has the Hammer name on it is so freaking pricy man, I went to buy this Horror of Dracula poster and it costed a whopping 31.50$ Almost 40 bucks for a poster! The poster was awesome but damn.

Same thing with DVD Dracula Prince of Darkness is selling for something like 30 dollars.

Being a hammer fan can take its toll at your wallet if your not carefull..

I watched it last night and loved it. Cushing is commanding, the atmosphere is dingy, and the characters are engaging. On the downside, the plot is almost too thin for the leisurely pace and some of the comedy relief tanks (the hammy dictator). The drawbacks aren't significant enough to stain the film, though. Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell is a must-see for Hammer enthusiasts, but what Hammer film isn't? Get to it, Spacemonkey!
