This film unfortunately did not work at the box office and I odn't understand why ?
This techno - thriller is so badass, so entertaining, the soundtrack is more than good, the acting is above the average, the directing is competent and energic, so why ?
This is one of my favorite movies, ever.
You have a couple who has chemestry, Mace and Lenny ( Angela Bassett and Fienes ) and they do exist on screen.
The action - scenes are well directed and it is well written ( James Cameron, former Bigelow's wife, btw ).
The photography is good,too.
No really I don't understand, The Arrow should review this great great film, it is impossible not be entertained by this movie.
The cast is terrific : Angela Basset, Donofrio, Ralph Fienes, Juliet Lewis, Tom Sizemore, etc ...
This is maybe my favorite movie from Bigelow ( along with K19 )
A must - see film.

I remember this movie came out on Friday, October 13, 1995...the same day that HALLOWEEN 6 was scheduled to open. However, HALLOWEEN moved to late September to avoid competition, even though STRANGE DAYS bombed at the box office.
Good movie, though.

I need to see this, never heard of it. Isn't Bigelow the same from Near Dark?

I've yet to see this film... but I read in an Entertainment Weekly article how they poked fun at some of the films futuristic assumptions that have sense been outdated, and hard to enjoy as a futuristic movie.
I think one of the things in the article was that it takes place in a futuristic Los Angeles, and someone meets a hometown character whom they recalled "Played for the Rams in 97.", when by 97 the Rams had moved to St. Louis. I forget the others.
It reminds me slightly of Demolition Man, when Wesley Snipes reads a transcript of prisoners and sees that Jeffrey Dahmer (who died in Prison a few years back) was one of the frozen inmates in this futuristic prison.
Shouldn't take anything away from the movie, hence they had no clue that the dude was going to die, or the Rams for that matter would move to St. Louis. But it's interesting to look at. Especially that age old theory that Back to the future part two predicted the Florida Marlins to win the world series before they were even a franchise.
