So has anyone seen the movie or any of the movies in the "Slumber Party Massacre" series? I dunno about you but I loved B-movie, it has trashy horror flick written all over it. For those of you who haven't seen this movie yet, it's about an escapee from a mental institution or a jail, equipped with some sort of crazy drill, that preys on a group of teens having a slumber party...I know what a plot...but the movie is actually pretty cool, i believe there are 3 or 4 but I haven't seen any of the others.

I hated the sequels, couldn't even finish the third , but the first was a perfect slice of out of the 80's. Nudity, plenty of killings, a standard slasher formula but it works well

I own the first - one and it is a fun movie with black humor and nudity galore.
It is surprising for a film supposed to feministic , this feministic, c'mon !!! this is pure exploitation.
The killer was pretty lame, though.
" Shut up and drink ur koolade ! "
" She only drinks milk "

The pizza - boy scene was really funny.

It wasnt supposed to be a femininist movie. The writer and director/producer were women, and they were feminists, and this is exploitation, but where they were having fun with it. All the feminists felt betrayed though, and raised a fuss. The producer (sorry, her name's a blank right now) said in an interview they need to chill out and not take it so seriously.

I'm heeeeeeere...
You can always expect me to drop in when there's discussion on these movies, they're my absolute favorite. :D

Anyways, for some technical info, all 3 of the films are out on DVD from New Concorde, but don't expect any brilliant special features. They all contain some trailers and bios, that's it. However, I highly recommend picking up the third film on DVD because it's pretty much the director's cut of the film and the longest version available. Let me give you the rundown:

R-rated VHS - 76 minutes
Unrated VHS - 80 minutes
R-rated DVD - 87 minutes

Now, the DVD says it's the R-rated print, but all of the gore that was cut out of the original VHS R version is completely in tact.

Also, stay the hell away from Cheerleader Massacre. Some poor bastards believe it to be the fourth film, but it couldn't be anything less. I wrote a review for it on IMDB (Joe-587 is mine).

Oh, and one last thing, I highly recommend checking out the Sorority House Massacre films as well.

I saw this one...I thought the killer was very underdeveloped. I mean, I think all he says during the movie is "You're all so beautiful....I love you" What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Why was he in the nuthouse in the first place? What's his DEAL??? Plus, what's with the neighbor? Is he hitting on the chicks or what? I also thought the little sister of the heroine was a throwaway character...and was she mad for being teased about masturbating to the beefcake mag? I know it's just cheesy horror, but still.

I thought the killer was handled well. It's interesting to see someone so human being the slayer for once. No supernatural healing powers or motives. He's just nuts. And the sayings that later came out of his mouth just threw me off balance. Let you know what a sicko sexual-psychopath we were dealing with. Personally I don't need to know every detail of his life from conception to the present day. Just knowing he's a sicko with a sharp, long drill is enough for me.

I didn't think the neighbors was hitting on the chicks, just being more a cool guardian by not ratting out the weed and such to Trish's parents.

I loved the original Slumber Party Massacre. It just hit all the right slasher buttons for me, for whatever reason. I found the girls all pretty likeable, except for that stuck up chick, and I guess that worked because she was supposed to be annoying. The premise has been done a million times over, but this one just stands out to me for some reason.

I didn't have a problem with the underdeveloped killer so to speak. Sometimes less is more, sometimes I like to just use my imagination, or like Erin said, he was just plain crazy, bottom line. It seems that long drawn out explanations about the motives of a killer are often a let down anyway, and seem unbelievable and contrived. So to me it was better this way. This one will always have a soft spot in my heart, I must own this flick.

I found the sequels absolutely tiresome to sit through. Everything that was good about the first was lost in the sequels. Recommendation to stay away.

The killer is completly nuts so do not search for any motive.

Very kool slasher movie I am glad to have it in my collection however the others are impossible to find here in Belgium and I don't buy through the internet.

I agree with ERIN LOJ. Just finding out that the killer was a complete off the wall nutcase made it great for me! It doesn't always need motives or a character backgrounds to get me off when it comes to a psycho motherfucker! And yes that shit spouting out of his mouth was just so weird and out of the blue it made him a memorable villain!!

I really enjoyed this film, and the gore, especially at the end was above par.

HERETIC - I'm from the UK and I own the original. Not sure about the others but you can get it from PLAY.COM for about £5.99 on DVD.

Sorry I couldn't find a bigger image of the cover guys. I guess this will have to do.

In life you will find different kinds of films. Some will offer socially relevant themes, or politically conscious messages. Others may force you to reevaluate you own life. Slumber Party Massacre is no different.

Simply put Slumber Party Massacre is intentional 80's cheese which is extremely fun. Believe it or not I wasn't expecting it to be. I had already seen the sequel with it's dumb ass drill guitar nemesis. THAT movie was garbage. Slumber Party Massacre III was also laughable and failed to capture the spirit of the original so as you can guess my expectations were low.

I'll be damned though. This film was leagues better than the other two and it had BETTER NUDITY. Something that the other two decided to skip out on (mostly). The scene with the pizza guy was funny too. I'm glad they didn't try to take this seriously.

I for one am not the least bit bothered with the killer and his lack of story. He's a fucking whacko with a drill. All that we need to know as far as I'm concerned. The scene at the end where he speaks is certainly odd but it was a nice touch.

The Slumber Party Massacre - 8/10

Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

they were pretty good, but i tell everyone they should watch part 2 atleast once... you will either love it or hate it, not many in betweens. if you like 80s cheese, then this is more than just a movie, it is an experience... plus chrystal bernard is so hot... the songs will crack you up

Slumber Party 1 is boring, poorly directed, and the hottest chick in the movie is the telephone repair girl who gets killed only ten minutes in. Slumber Party 2, on the other hand, is an underrated 80s classic, with Crystal Bernard doing good work, some good gory kills, and the over the top "rock star" persona of The Driller-Killer making the whole thing a fun surreal trip. Worth watching...:D

The first Slumber Party Massacre was quite a bit of fun, it's so silly and poorly made but so damn enjoyable at the same time. Shame the same couldn't be said about the sequels, 2 and 3 are soso and the less said about 4, the better.

Slumber Party Massacre - 7/10
Slumber Party Massacre II - 5/10
Slumber Party Massacre III - 6/10
Slumber Party Massacre IV: Cheerleader Massacre - 1/10
