The New York City Horror Film Festival in conjunction with The Independent Film Channel is proud to present Tom Savini with the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the genre, the industry and fans worldwide!

On Saturday Oct. 25th, Tom Savini will join the NYCHFF for a special screening his directorial debut, the outstanding remake of the seminal horror classic Night of the Living Dead. Award presentation and special Q&A with Tom Savini will follow the screening.

This is fuckin' awesome! Congrads to Tom Savini! Bout time his hardwork gets rewarded!

He's only in his 50s. A Lifetime acheivement award already?

Still, Savini is a master at make-up effects. Congrats.

This makes me nostalgic for the late 70's early 80's horror boom. That was the era where people would go see a horror film not for the story or actors..but for the make-up guys. Savini...Bottin...Baker...Winston...Yagher, those guys were more popular than most of the actors in the films they were doing! The newer horror films either use "fresh" (i.e. cheaper) talent or rely on CGI which is a shame. Ok enough of my ranting..congrats to Mr. Savini, he's one of the coolest celebs I've ever met :)

Tom Savini's FX work kicks ass and i'm very happy for him finally getting this award which is well deserved.
He also plays a stuntman on alot of the movies he works on which is totally cool.
