A question concerning The Godfather

Ok here it is....Im talkin to my old man today about movies in general and he brings up somethin he heard about there being a godfather 4....Now what he told me he said he didn't know where he heard it but he says he remembers hearing about a year ago that there was a some sort of thing where a bunch of writers scripted versions of a fourth flick and one was chosen and Commissioned to write the flick....Any info?

There was indeed a buzz on GF4 going around. I think its a disgrace to the first 3 movies. For starters GF3 supposedly ends the legacy of the family and Al Pacino dies in the end.
The rumor I heard is its goin to be a prequel. And the whoever is tryin to push this is goin to Paramount who did the first 3 will be offered and if they pass they will go to the next studio thats gonna ink them a deal.

There's been rumors of a new Godfather movie since the 3rd one came out. It would supposedly take place a couple years before the last scene in Godfather Part 3, with the Andy Garcia character in power, and have flashbacks to the youth of Michael, Sonny, and Fredo. Coppola said on the commentaries he always considered a 4th movie, but wouldn't do it without Mario Puza, who died in 1999
