Help with a movie!?!?

i remember when i was a kid that i saw this one movie that this little boy has a grandpa, or i think its his uncle, and he dies. the boy then sees his grandpa again but he is a zombie. the kid thinks that he is evil but he turns out to be a good zombie. another part of the movie was that they had a pet that was probably half dog and half caterpillar/worm. this movie came out in the 80's maybe early 90's. anyways, i vaguely remember this movie but any help would be appreciated. thanks

Sounds alot like the tv series Tales from the Darkside. I think that was a Tales episode....hmmm......or...it very well could be the other tv show Monsters. Both were from the 80's. Yes, I remember the episode well but can't place which series it was from.

I am pretty sure its House 2. That dog thing was from that flick, I never forgot the image of a half dog half caterpillar

Almost 100% that it's HOUSE II.... awful, awful, awful, awful movie. Awful.
