I just found this old horror movie new on DVD . . . and it was quite a pleasant surprise! "Offerings" was one of the last "Halloween/Friday The 13th" clones (maniac with a motive on the loose from the loony bin . . . bloody massare ensues!), but it's a pretty good one surprisingly. Unlike so many weak horror films offered to us today (like "Darkness Falls"), "Offerings" is nice, little straight-forward slasher flick that knows what it is and takes advantage of the situation. There is heroine (though, put in a slightly different situation here), there is the cardboard characters/her friends (who are better developed than in most such slasher flicks), the acting ranges from obvious to decent, and the kills were pretty cool and creative. There is even some suspense to be taken from all of this. This one of those "troubled kid is screwed over/gets revenge years later" films, but it has a more original story here. The kills, as said before, are creative, and awesome to watch (in an escapism sort of way of course), and some leave to the imagination as well in a good way. The most original idea here is that the killer would give "offerings" from the victims to the heroine (which is by no means a spoiler; it says so on back cover of the DVD), and that works out in a somewhat creepy aspect with this film. Anybody else know of this film?

I found it at my local Suncoast Video. It was only $7.99, as it was under the "Under $10 dollars" section. It didn't a lot of special features; just it's theatrical trailer and three preview trailers, but I'm cool with that.

I've heard that it's a glaring Halloween ripoff, but you make it sound digestible. Ripoffs can be just as amusing as pacesetters.

It never reminded me of Halloween, Count.

The Main Musical Theme is almost an exact Halloween Rip-off, and a semi similar story line.

And Yes, the Piazza rocked!
