This slasher is not as famous as Halloween but it stars Jamie Lee Curtis, portraying a yound student in medicines ( is it the good word ? )
The photography is very good, I was impressed.
I mean you are not used to see a such good photography in a slasher movie.
This slasher is atmospheric and entertaining, you even have David Copperfield who plays a ... magician.
The killer's identity is not the most important because you know it very soon in fact, it is very obvious.
Another positive point is the way the killer deguises himself by taking the victims' costumes.
The film is not very gory but it is not important because you have atmosphere and the photography is very good, too.
Really not a bad slasher.

Of the Jamie Lee Curtis "trilogy" (Halloween, Prom Night, Terror Train) this one is probably my favorite. I love train movies. And although you know who the killer is by name, you don't know who it is on the train until the last frames. A satisfying entry in the slasher genre.

TERROR TRAIN (1980). Directed by Roger Spottiswoode. Starring Ben Johnson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Hart Bochner, David Copperfield, Derek MacKinnon, Sandee Currie and Timothy Webber. An obvious attempt to cash in on the revival of the slasher picture spawned two years earlier by John Carpenter's smash hit HALLOWEEN. The plot centers around a New Year's Eve masquerade party held aboard a train chartered by a graduating college fraternity. An uninvited stowaway, the victim of a vicious fraternity prank three years earlier (depicted in an excellent pre- credits sequence), proceeds to stalk the members of the small, elite clique of medical students who were responsible for the practical joke and his subsequent mental breakdown. Heading the cast are: Curtis as the film's heroine, natch; Oscar-winner Johnson (THE LAST PICTURE SHOW) as a paternal conductor (Curtis was always paired with father figures during her Scream Queen days. Case in point: Donald Pleasence in HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II; Leslie Nielsen in PROM NIGHT; and Stacy Keach in ROAD GAMES); Bochner as the clique's cruel ring-leader; Copperfield as (what else?) a magician; Currie as JLC’s best friend; and Webber as JLC’s boyfriend. 80’s pop singer Vanity (billed here as D.D. Winters) appears in a small role. The film's final act, in which sole survivor Curtis engages in a lengthy, bloody battle with the killer, is worth waiting for. Another plus: the killer dons the costume of each successive victim, and you'll never guess who he's disguised as during most of the film! On the minus side: the film is poorly directed by former cinematographer Spottiswoode, Copperfield's scenes are embarrassing, and Bochner chews the scenery with so much aplomb, one can't wait for him to lose his head! Curtis and Johnson are excellent, but this is the weakest entry in JLC's horror film resume. HALLOWEEN did it so much better! My grade: B
