Poor guy.:( But I have confidence he can fight this, a lot of famous people have survived prostate cancer.
From cnn.com: (http://www.cnn.com)
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actor Robert De Niro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his spokesman said Monday. De Niro's cancer was "detected at an early stage" due to regular check-ups, and doctors "project a full recovery," said spokesman Stan Rosenfield in a statement.
The statement did not disclose what sort of treatment De Niro was undergoing for his cancer.
De Niro, 60, one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, has appeared in more than 60 movies in a career stretching back 40 years. He has been nominated for six Oscars, winning as best actor in 1980 for "Raging Bull" and as best supporting actor in 1974 for "The Godfather, Part II."

Very sad news...But the fact that he should recover is good news. As long as DeNiro immediately goes back to acting in great movies, then I'll be estatic.

thank god they caught it early is all i will...
I'm not too worried. Prostate cancer is highly curable when detected early. He'll fully recover. Just wondering how this would affect HIDE AND SEEK, which is scheduled to start shooting any day now.

You are right of course. It was merely a poor joke trying to make light of a serious situation.
I wish him all the best.

Yeah, not this year, at least... right?
What I mean by that is, there have been a large number of big-name celebrities' deaths this year.
The original post quotes an article that SAYS that it was cought early, and he's got a good chance at full recovery, so I'm not too concerned at this point in time. At least, for THIS year. The quota has been exceeded, so I won't worry until January or so....
right...?
