HMV (the store) is as you may or may not know a store that specializes in music and video/dvd. Now, this rant is about the jackasses who run the store and overprice everything.

Get this:
The new Psycho DVD, the one rereleased as a Hitchcock collection is the same disk as the original collector's edition, yet it was supposed to be rereleased at a lower price. Regardless of the cover art, the dvd's should be the same price. WRONG! They weren't. The Hitchcock one was [b]6[/ b] MORE! 6 fucking bucks! For a lame cheap, lousy looking coverart!

The criteriopns's are all automatically 60 bucks or higher- even if the regular release is superior. Their about 20 bucks above Music World prices- Id rather go downstairs to their for my dvd's.

Anyway, anyone else have anything to say on their ridiculous dvd prices?

Is HMV an equivalent to Virgin Megastore here in the U.S.?:D

Retail is a bitch, but she has the goods to make her tolerable.

HMV sales are the dogs bollocks...I personally LOVE going on a big shop when the sales are on.

Virgin on the other hand...:(.

Heh-heh...Lady Version likes to shop and have a Virgin on her other hand. We're so alike in many ways, it scares me.....

I love HMV. They let me replace the Angel 4.2 set the other day after I said it was faulty, even though it was completely obvious the reason it was faulty was I had spilled beer all over it. That was nice of em

The HMV in my town is pretty big and has never let me down in the sales.

However it pisses me off when they slap import stickers on hip hop albums I want charging £24.99 for a CD...fuck that.

$60 fucking bucks for a Criterion? I normally get those for $35.99 at the most (excluding my SOTL DVD, which was appearantly stuck in the local Strawberries for a while unsealed and sold for $40).

*quietly thanks amazon.com for having great prices and great customer service.

They once shipped me the wrong DVD and after a couple customer service phone calls and validation of my story, they sent me the DVD I actually ordered and let me keep the mistake.

I rather pay more money and go to a place like HMV which carries a large selection of rare and harder to find DVDs instead of going to a place like Wal-Mart or Zellers where you can only find the big name hollywood flicks and everything is in fuckin' Fullscreen. Not to mention better service and employees who actually know something about films and DVDs.

Yeah I've just been to Florida and got to compare your prices, and in England it's more expensive. Wal-mart had some good bargains (I snapped up about TWENTY "souvenirs" including Tigerland and Novocaine for $5), but the main chains were all pretty over-priced. But still cheaper than in England, where you're looking at at LEAST £20 for the new releases.

I don't know why anyone buys in stores anymore anyway, the Internet is usually a lot cheaper, and aside from my Walmart bargains I haven't bought DVDs or CDs in a shop for about four years.
