Have they stopped allowing you to post pictures from imdb.com?
It's not working for me anymore.

Same here. I attempted to link to a picture at imdb and got the dreaded X. I linked to a pic on Amazon and it worked fine.

I have noticed that too also, its like now ya see them now ya dont. It weird with the copyright (New Line, some of Columbia) brew ha ha. Obviously pics w/ a copyright on them, I try to stay away from. Other than that, most pics are public domain right? If used properly caps from a movie is promoting the movie itself or illustrating what I liked about this or what was missing etc etc...No fret, theres still ways get pics from online. Just ones that have geocities, tripod etc. They will Not link if you use them.

I've noticed this too lately. Quite a few times they didn't work, so now I don't even look at imdb when I need a pic.

But I'm curious as to the reason, cause they worked fine till a couple of weeks ago.

Dammit! For some reason it worked when I checked on it on the
'preview post' option.

I never understood why MORE sites don't do this, especially with the proliferation of message boards on the Net and the use of "hotlinking" (hotlinking is when other sites will link DIRECTLY to a picture or file on another site without someone having to visit that site to see it)

Hotlinking raises a site's bandwidth charges, while not bringing the host site any more visitors. We've had a block on hotlinking for years now and I guess more sites are utilizing it to lower their business costs. Makes sense to me.

Holy crap, I didn't even know that. I'll think before hotlinking again...

Thanks for explaining it. It certainly makes sense now.

I figured it out. For some reason, when you try to post a URL (to link the pic) you get... http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Events/1910/ColinFarre_Grani_883955_400.jpg

Notice the extra "i." I put it in bold. If you take that 'i' out, it works.

W/ the "i"

W/o the "i"

I'm not sure. I guess you can't link pics from this site.
