Fishburne Refuses To Talk to Internet Hacks
Movie star Lawrence Fishburne has followed the example of Russell Crowe by refusing to talk to Internet journalists. At a recent press day for forthcoming sequel The Matrix: Revolutions, the web journalists were told the 42-year-old actor wouldn't speak to them, despite already being scheduled in. Fishburne now shares the same policy as Crowe, who ignores request from movie websites for spreading rumors about him.

The man has got shit for brains. Elitist fuck!
Doesn't he realize after the Matrix movies his career is toast and he'll need the support of inter---ah fuck it, let him sink. :)

OK, here's a thought smart guys.
Refuse reporters from the sites that are CONFIRMED in spreading rumors that are obviously untrue and fabricated. That way, the reputable websites (JoBlo.com, baby) don't get pushed to the wayside just because a fuckface here or there tells a lie.
I see his point though, we all know how honest print and TV journalists always are (Stephen Glass, for example)
 Such idiocy....know what Larry? You're not THAT badass...get a life and stop kidding yourself. Your career is staying afloat because of the internet geeks who philosophize about The Matrix and Morpheus and all of that shit...and you're refusing to SPEAK to them. Well, you always have Just Cause to fall back on, right?

Weirdly enough, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Larry, you're a good actor. But outside of The Matrix, no one really cares. And if you think you're in the position to turn down interviews...heh, you've got another thing coming...

I think this is a stupid move on his part. What about the legitimate websites, like this one here? I dont belive we spread rumors, but he's to uptight to find that out.
Besides, rumors would actually probably do his career a little good. Its like Nate6 said, after Morpheous, you got nothing.
Silly cunt!
I don't think it will have any effect on his career (whatever you think that is). The other forms of media are much more visible, plus anything that's reported on television or in print will still get typed up here. All in all, it probably just saves him a few minutes every day when he's doing another round of promotions.

It seems totally unreasonable to dismiss an entire journalistic group from consideration. There are good internet sites as well as bad ones just like there are some irresponsible journalists in mainstream media. Sounds like symptoms of arrogance are setting in...

Maybe, but then again, maybe not. Your post made me wonder if there were any success stories that can be mostly attributed to the Internet, and I came up with two biggies: The Blair Witch Project and Linkin Park. We all know about the BWP phenomenon, and when Linkin Park released Hybrid Theory way back when, they did very little promoting, yet it was the biggest selling CD of the year based on Internet buzz and word-of-mouth recommendations (taken from a Rolling Stone article).
I think Fishburne is taking an ignorant and arrogant approach to his career by shutting out Internet journalists. When you think about it, this is very telling about how savvy he is regarding innovative technology. He obviously doesn't put much faith in the Net because he apparently doesn't know shit about it.
The irony of Morpheus slamming the Net is incredibly funny to me! :p

These guys must be the same folks who still think that Harry Knowles is the ONLY MOVIE CRITIC on the Net. Crowe and Fishburne are only embarrassing themselves by doing things like this, and Fishburne, in particular, should be "spanked" by Joel Silver or WB's marketing team since the NET is exactly how/why movies like the MATRIX get bigger (word of mouth, fan sites, discussion board, etc...)
Keep it up, Fish....keep eating the hand that feeds you....
I guess a couple of sites talking shit about the man is enough for him to dismiss the ENTIRE rest of the Net that actually work hard to produce legitimate news and content. Pooh on these actors and even more so, POOH on the studio publicists for not teaching them about the difference between the Internet "Enquirers" and the Internet "Newsweeks". Do I smell an editorial coming from my part...perhaps...anyone have legitimate links to stories about these two jokers?
PS: From hereon in, JoBlo.com refuses to speak to acting hacks!

I'm holding you to that one. Do an interview with Julia Roberts, and I quit. ;)
As for Fishburne, he is absolutely biting the hand that feeds him. And now, that hand'll slap him back. He may regret his decision when he's forced into doing Hollywood Squares or something...
Blair Witch and Linkin Park are obviously the two biggest examples of an internet success story, but does LF really need some internet buzz to get people to know who he is? He's known already.
As for the idea that word of mouth for movies builds on the internet, and somehow he'll be limiting that by refusing to do interviews, I doubt it very much. I imagine there'll be (or maybe already is) a thread for Master & Commander and Matrix Revolutions on this site. I'm sure not everyone in the thread will be saying "he refuses to talk to internet journalists, so don't go see this movie!"

You mean people were actually wanting to interview Fishburne? Could of fooled me. I could care less what that boring monotone idiot has to say anyways.

Forget boycotting internet journalists, he needs to start boycotting cheeseburgers.
I mean did you see that fat gut he had in Reloaded?

Let's start talking shit about Fishburne.
At least then he'll have an excuse.
I'll start..."Your name's Larry, fuckwit. At least it was when you started, Sir Laurence. BTW, it's spelled LAWRENCE, ass."
