I heard about this movie and was curious about it. So I must have help from you schmoes! It was made from Roman Polanski in his Rosemary's Baby days. It had Catherine Deneuve play a mute woman who was in an apartment for the weekend. She starts having delusions and such. They say it is really scary because of the amount of silence used. It was also in a list for the scariest moments for a scene where Deneuve looks through a shiny surface looking at her reflection when she sees someone standing right behind her. Of course she turns around and no one is there. I am just very interested in seeing this and want some more opinions on it.

My favorite Polanski flick. Basically a woman's decent into madness. Definately check it out. I like it better than Rosemary's Baby

It's been awhile since I've seen Repulsion, but I remember it to be one creepy cool flick.

I'd recommend turning the lights out, flip the phone off and sit quietly. It's a very quiet movie, and noise will ruin the mood.

Was it a bunny? I forget. Lovely stuff. Cracks. Cracks.

Repulsion, is the first English language film from director Roman Polanski. The film is about a young woman named Carole Ledoux, who lives in an apartment with her sister Helene. Carole, is very shy and basically the only friend she has is her sister Helene. Carole, works at a beauty parlour downtown and one day she comes home in the evening to meet Helene's new boyfriend. Helene soon leaves with her new boyfriend on a vacation and Carole, is left alone in the apartment. In a matter of a couple of days Carole, does not go to work and will not leave the apartment. She also starts seeing visions of her being attacked and raped and whenever someone knocks on the door she thinks they are after her. Soon she slowly starts to descend into madness. Winner of The FIPRESCI Award for writer and director Roman Polanski and The Silver Berlin Bear Award for Special Prize Of The Jury also for Roman Polanksi at The Berlin International Film Festival. Repulsion has good direction, a good script, a great performance by Catherine Deneuve as Carole Ledoux, good cinematography, good art direction and set decoration. Repulsion, is very well made and has some very good haunting images and is interesting but at the same time the movie has the pace of a snail and goes along very slowly. To some this may be good as a sort of character development or story development but basically this movie is a one person show and there's basically no character to develop because when the movie starts we don't know much about Carole, and we don't when it ends either. Many critics and horror film fans have loved this film and I can see why they would for reasons I mentioned above but it was just too slow for me. I do highly recommend Roman Polanksi's other horror films Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant. Two great horror films from a great director who did a good job but not very well at pacing the film.

Repulsion is creepy, shocking, & disturbing which Polonski rolls into a character study of sixties repression. Denevue is perfect as the sister who has everything going for her but descends into madness. The ending is like a punch to the stomach and the film gets better with every viewing. This may be the delusion of a raving Polonski junkie but fans of psychological terror should see the movie. Its effects on other movies is evident.

You can't say you're a Polanski junkie cause you spelt his name wrong!

why you little...
I guess I like David Lynch better, since his name is more manageable for a simpleton like me.
