From IMDB:

Scary Movie 3 star Anna Faris has hit out at claims her annoying character in the movie Lost In Translation is based on Cameron Diaz. The film's director Sofia Coppola was recently accused of modeling the "annoying, cloying, ditzy-blonde actress" role of Kelly, played by Faris, on the Charlie's Angels beauty. But 26-year-old Faris insists nothing could be further from the truth. She says, "I think that rumor started with some early review of a European tabloid, and I feel really bad because I really like Cameron Diaz and it feels like I've insulted this woman I really admire. I never wanted to imitate anybody. I just wanted to portray a person who'd been successful for a long time, perhaps starting as a child, and just lives on a different plane and can't relate to normal people. I'm sort of spoofing the idea of a Hollywood actress."

I still think she was channeling Cameron. And it was obvious that Giovanni Ribisi and Scarlett Johanssen were loosely based on the now defunct marriage of Spike Jonze and Sofia Coppola. What I wanna know is just who the hell Bill Murray was supposed to be? The only superstars-turned has-beens I can think of are Bruce Willis and Burt Reynolds.

I'm sure she was channeling Cameron Diaz, but probably didn't know it. The movie is partly based on Coppola's experience working in Japan, and probably around Hollywood. As for it being based on the now-defunct marriage, I can't say
