View Full Version : Missed horror?? What haven't you seen and why?

ARGH!!! I'm in the living room skimming through the channels and my eye catches on a black and white horror film on called Doctor Blood's Coffin (1961) but of course it's almost over so I skip through it.

Then a few channels down my mouth dropped open as I spotted Sisters starting right this second --- but then I found out I don't get the channel!!! I have heard this one's not that easy to get ahold of and have been wanting to see it for years now. ;/

To top it off, The Dark Half (which I haven't seen for so long I've forgotten it) and a horror film called THE BELIEVERS (Martin Sheen), which I've never heard of are both underneath Sisters, but I get none of those.

They usually don't show much horror when I'm watching it, and never movies that aren't commonly played. So naturally I'm seething in my shoes right now.

This brought up a question in mind. What movies have you always wanted to see but never get to? Either because they're rare, through bad luck, wierd circumstances, price, ect?

You know I just recently saw Sisters for the first time when my husband bought the DVD and well I was dissapointed and bored. I usually like DePalma alot. I like his stories and the style in which he shoots his films. It was not really a horror movie more like a Suspense and I know there are people in here that get irritated when people put things into catagories but oh well at least I am not like Peter Weller on the Of Unknown Origin commentary who avoids the horror label completely and calls stuff Spiritual Thrillers
I was just dissapointed and I doubt I will watch it again. I am usually not that way with older films.

I avoid newer horror movies for a long time. They do not interest me much. I have just about seen everything in horror or at least it seems like it. I can not find anything to rent anymore. I also do not like movies with subtitles all that much, it screws with my eyes and gives me headaches. I need to absorb the movie as a whole and I just can not with subtitles.

there are too damn many horror films I havent seen and really want to

Friday the 13th 1-8 (held of buying hoping for uncut versions, seems my wishes are coming true)
Nightmare On Elm Street 1,4,5,7
The Burning
Dawn of the Dead (brother had on video but dad taped over it)
Bride of Re-Animator
Q: The Winged Serpent
Tenebrae
Nosferatu (have tried taping it but VCR always doesn't record it)
Cannibal Apocalypse (banned in the UK and constantly hold off getting the region 1 release)
Return of the Living Dead 2,3 (cannot find 2 anywhere, held off getting UK dvd of 3 because it is in fullscreen, held off getting region 1 because it is the cut version)

There are many more, these are only a few that i can think of

The only major one I think I have not seen that is on my list is Re-Animator. It sounds like a fun romp, but I just keep putting off renting it. Something else always catches my eye first.

Parilese, that post almost sounds like a cry-out for symptoms of falling into a horror depression. If there were such a thing. :D

YOU HAVEN'T SEEN DOLLS!?! Count, I loved this movie. Search harder.

I desperately want to see Black Christmas and Black Sunday; also a shitload of Argento movies. And now, thanks to a recent posting by another schmoe, The Serpent and the rainbow. Only way to get ahold of these flicks is by buying online. No problem there, but I hate spending a hefty price tag when unsure on whether I'll enjoy them or not.

Every movie that came out after Jeepers Creepers 2...why? BECAUSE IT HASN'T FUCKING ARRIVED TO THEATERS!!!

...that includes my eternal die-to-see "Underworld".

I've seen most of it; I just can't find it to buy. And I wouldn't worry about hefty price tags. Buy used items (Half.com, for example).

I really, desperatlly want to see Ginger Snaps!!! I'm like jonesing to see this flick. The only thing stopping me is that to find anything good ( cds, dvds, porn ) I've gotta go to a whole other state cuz there's no good place around my town to buy nice things. God hates me:mad: !!!!

Because I FUCKING hate the only cinema in this shitty town. Well, not the cinema, I hate the cunt-ass teeny-boppers who get all dressed up just to go and see a fucking film and spend most of the time sending text messages and talking shite when the film is on. <rant over>

Cannibal Holocaust. I 've been searching everywhere to find this flick. Some people dislike it, because of the animal killings, others like it because of it's gory nature. I guess it's just one of those films where you need to see at least once.

Count -

According to a horror website (believe it is horrordvd but not sure - can find it if you'd like) a UK DVD is available for under 10 bucks. I believe it's about as cheap as 4 dollars according to the source. How I can't imagine, but....

Day Of The Dead:I want to see the above mentioned movie before this one.

Cemetery Man:Hasn't been releashed in Canada yet.

Shiver, Rabid, The Brood, The Dead Zone, Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch:They're all impossible to find (at least for me) so I'm ordering them off amazon for christmas.

Cannibal Holocaust:I want a good DVD releash (and I've heard there's a big one coming out).

Bless me for I have sinned:

I haven't...

I haven't seen ALL of "Dawn of the Dead". Yes I'm a hopeless case.
Any of the "Psycho" films.
"Last House on the Left"
"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"
Neither of the "Cat People" movies
Aside from seeing "The Exorcist" and "The Omen" I haven't seen any of their followups.
Seen ALL of "Rosemary's Baby"
I fell asleep within the first few minutes of "The Astronaut's Wife" *but I hear it was as boring as batshit anyway*
"Night of the Comet"
"Day of the Dead"
The "Night of the Living Dead" remake
"The Phantom of the Opera" (Lon Chaney version of course)
"Rabid"
I haven't seen ALL of "The Fly" by David Cronenberg
"A Chinese Ghost Story"
"Cabin Fever"
"Bad Taste"
Besides "Child's Play III" I haven't seen any of the previous installments.
ANY of the "Re-Animator" films.
Besides the first "Stepfather" films, I haven't seen the followups.
ANY of the Freddy and Jason films *Now that is tragic*
Besides "Horror of Dracula", "Dracula: Prince of Darkness", and "Taste the Blood of Dracula", I haven't seen any of the Hammer Dracula films.

I haven't seen any theatrical releases since I moved to upstate New York. Why?Because the only theater in my tiny town plays family friendly crap like Secondhand Lions. But there is a light at the end of my depressing tunnel-I just signed up with Netflix and soon I will finally see Black Christmas!!(Had to join Netflix cuz the only video rental place in town has like 6 dvd's-and like almost no horror at all).Damn I miss the Big Apple :(

So now I'm looking to buy From Beyond on dvd and am looking forward to seeing King of the Ants either in the theaters or on dvd. Ia ia !!!!!

If you saw those movies on SCI-FI then you did not see all the great stuff. You saw some cut up movie. You will enjoy them even more in it's intended format in all its unedited glory!

I never saw "The Others".

I had wanted to go see it with my girlfriend, because she rarely watches horror movies, but loves Nicole Kidman.

I was pretty excited about it, but then she went and saw it with some friends. I was so disappointed I never wanted to watch it again.

And of course I've come across the twist ending on the Internet by now, so what's the point?

Still dating the girl though. I threw such a girly hissy fit about it, she calls me for permission before she sees movies now.

I'm sorta proud of that.

The hills have eyes - can never find it
All Hellraiser films - (really bizarre reason!)

I read the Clive Barker novel and I came down with the worst flu ever. Hot and cold sweats, nausia, sickness and delerious babbling etc. Not nice at all.

Watched the 1st 10 minutes of the move got really sick again.

Tryed for a 3rd time and I came down with a Kidney infection and had to go to Hospital.

I am not making this up all this happened coincidentally after watching\reading Hellraiser. Therefore, I have vowed never to watch it !!!
