Sort of an unusual thread I admit, but something I thought of tonight.
Movies names and trends I've noticed
John Carpenter for example.
In the mouth of madness was a good name, but what about the rest? Village doesnt really count as it was a remake (and re-name)
Halloween... simple and I guess it works so no big gripes
The Thing...okay I know this sums it all up but the name is .. well, corny, cheesy. It's a little embarrassing if someone asks a list of my favorite movies and I say, THE THING. Maybe it's just me.
They Live...Again, same thing
Vampires....At least we know theyre not going out on a limb being creative
Prince of Darkness.....sounds cool but such a cliche saying
Craven thinks of some good names though, even though I enjoy Carpenter more.
( People under the stairs, serpant and rainbow, last house on the left, ect..)
People see where I'm going with this? What are your thoughts on different names & such?

I think Ringu has one of the greatest names. It isn't until the ending you figure out why it's called Ringu.

I agree.
I like the titles of Ed Wood's movies:
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Night of the Ghouls
The Sinister Urge
Glen or Glenda

I like romero's title for his dead films:
Night of the living dead
Dawn of the dead
Day of the dead
I love the fact that they follow that order.

I feel like an absolute moron not even realizing they followed that order before, psycho.

I think IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS just may be my favorite horror movie title of all time. Pretty good film, too.

for the horror directors :
Dario Argento with :
The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
Deep Red
The Cat O' Nine Tails
Non Hon Sono ( aka Sleepless but I prefer the original title meaning I can't sleep )

No, genuinely serious. I haven't seen Dawn yet; never payed as much attention to the series as most schmoes here.

Oh I thought you were joking. You should see them though just to give them a chance.

I saw night of the living dead (B&W) and loved it. I also saw the remake but didn't think it was even half as good.
Saw day on TV (with the commerical breaks). Nice and gory but boring. I tried to get into it but couldn't.
I have heard Dawn (the mall???) is much better, but haven't caught that one yet.

They show Day of the Dead on TV??? I can only imagine how lame that would be. Seeing as a wondersful part of this awesome movie is it's gore factor. Cut to shit, I bet you had to sit through a shitload of commercials.
Day is my favorite (8/10) of the trilogy btw.
Dawn - 8/10
Night - 8/10 (I give it props, but it bores the shit out of me. I prefer the remake - 6/10

I retract my 6/10 for Night remake and give it a 7/10. No wait...8/10. It is a good time. The extra point is for the Savini factor alone!
And...keeping with the subject, Argento does have some cool titles. As well as Wes Craven.
The Hills Have Eyes; great movie and title - 8/10.
Apparently I'm all about the "8's". WTF?

I believe it was the sci fi channel and they usually douse us with commericals every 10 min on the dot. But they left all the gore in I believe. It was pretty explicit.
