I recently came across another vBulletin site (don't worry, JoBlo is the only board for me) in which changing of your "Status" is allowed after reaching a certain plateau of posts. "Status" is the label under one's name, i.e. Infant, Junior, Senior, etc. The topic which had previously discussed this is closed, so I thought I'd open this, to see if anything had changed. I can give you the name of the other site if needed, but right now, I see no need to.

Actually, I will lurk around some of these queries to see what everyone else thinks sometimes. Always nice to hear from others.

The answer to the question is "no" though. I think the whole point of having Status Names is for others to be able to quickly identify WHERE you fit into the JoBlo's Movie Club membership (are you new? been here a while? like to post a lot? etc...) If we give seniors the right to change their Status Names to whatever they wanted, what good is it to have a Status Name in the first place? (unless I'm not understanding your question correctly)

Some guy could just change his Status Name to "tiger", if he wanted to, right? What would that mean? Not sure I get why this would be a thing that anyone would want?

I wouldn't mind adding a few more Status Names though, or altering the ones we already have. I don't have a big problem with that.

I'm just not one to spend too much time on stuff like this. I've thought of removing the "# of posts" on our board many a time, since it seems like there are actually some folks who "get off" on that sort of thing. One click of a button and poof...all we'd be left with is Status Names. Sounds like some kind of sick, futuristic society, eh?

I've always felt that we needed another rung in between Super and King. That's a gaping gap. Perhaps at 5,000?

But in all seriousness, I think that a rung between Super and King would be a good idea. No harm to it, and 9000 posts is along time to wait for a status change (Although at the rate I'm going, I'll still be a senoir schmoe in 10 years time!)

Could you make a list of different status names that we could choose from once we reach 5000 or so, and again at the King Stage? Or maybe create a new one for 5000 and have different choices for those who reach KING. I mean it seems kind of ridiculous to have multiple Kings..it just doesn't work :D

I definately don't think Senior or even Super schmoes should be able to change their status. You could set it at the 10,000 level. So we don't end up with multiple kings. You'd be able to recognize who's been here a while and who posts often because they are the ones who have different status.

maybe THE schmoe with the most posts can have the title king of all schmoes, and all the others can have a different title. even though that means that adam will be king for fucking ever, it's o.k.

Right now there are EIGHT "King of all Schmoes". Soon there will be more. Eventually BCV will reach 10,000 posts and she will become King. Hmm. What kind of hierarchy is this?

Junior Schmoe (Minimum Posts: 50)
Senior Schmoe (Minimum Posts: 250)
Super Schmoe (Minimum Posts: 1000)
King of all Schmoes (Minimum Posts: 10000)
Administrator (that's me!)
