I guess it could belong, but I don't really view Kill Bill as horror, and you didn'y specify horror film...still a good thread topic though.

That was the first film that came to mind. Kill Bill was one of the best movies of the year IMO.

But if we're talking in horror....hmmm. I watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (74') last night again for the 50th time. That's definitely a 10/10.

Non-horror: Kill Bill Vol. 1
Horror: Freddy vs. Jason

RogueSpear
11-03-2003, 03:14 PM
Non-Horror: Black Hawk Down

Horror: I haven't seen a horror movie that I would give a 10/10 to since I first saw Halloween roughly ten years ago.

I'll third that!!! Stunning movie. With this flick I actually managed to convince a colleague at work that subtitled movies were worth her precious time. She has since saw The Devil's Backbone, The Eye and Ringu. I'll be throwing Audition and Dark Water at her next.

My last 10/10 / **** movie also was "Kill Bill." And, just to support it as horror, it has more than it's share of bloody gore to be truly the goriest movie this year. This year has been disappointing in the **** department. The only other movie I gave that top rating to, but was definitely not horror, was "Antwone Fisher."

Oh the last TRUE 10/10 movie I saw would have to be Memento! Classic...just unbeliable....not Horror but damn it was good and that was a year ago the last time I saw that....

Close calls(horror): Identity (9/10)
Freddy VS. Jason (8.5/10)
The Frightners (8/10)
May (7.5/10)
Donnie Darko (7.5/10)

Alien. It is a timeless picture. The only thing that has aged is the computer. I suggest everyone go see it in theatres. It has quite an impact that way. But if you have a short attention span nor the patience for story and character development then skip it by all means and go see a crappy 90 minute remake instead. Me? I would take originality over rehash any day!;)

Besides "Kill Bill" and "Antwone Fisher" for this year, these were the last movies I gave the 10/10 / **** to:

1) A Beautiful Mind (****)
2) Red Dragon (****)
3) Frailty (****)
4) Signs (****)
5) Minority Report (****)
6) Brotherhood of The Wolf (****)
7) The Count of Monte Cristo (****)
8) Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (****)
9) Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron (****)
10) E.T. the Extraterrestrial (Re-release) (****)

They are all movies from last year and they were the 10 top movies out of 110 different movies I saw in theaters. I'm hoping I'll find more **** from the likes of possibly "Master and Commander," "The Last Summarai," and even "Kill Bill: Volume 2."

I'd have to say that the last horror movie that comes close to being a 10/10 would be THE SHINING ......excellent performances, setting, and the scariest movie ever.

Kill Bill Vol. 1. Besides that there haven't been to many 10's lately.

Rashomon came really damn close...

Horror-wise:
The Exorcist 3 came damn close but was ruined by it's Hollywood ending. Cabin Fever was the best horror film so far this year and could been a 10 if it's story was more built.

I happily have a new addition:

THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS!!

Repeat: THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS!!

Do I need to repeat once more?!

I just saw the movie...and it was one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen. I'm serious. This movie was so slam-bang awesome, and faithfully completing the "Matrix" trilogy...I'm nearly breathless.

I can't believe the two recent negative on-line reviews it got. Arrow, Joblo, are you guys okay? What were you guys expecting? What questions were you expexting. Sure, "The Matrix Reloaded" left us with more questions about the Matrix...but once you see this movie, you realize what was answered in "Reloaded" are those answers. The point of "Revolutions" is to finish off the human's war. I won't say anymore. I'm starting to ramble. Anyway, as I was saying...

THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS!!

It is one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen...
