FOTR DVD outsells VHS

well the title says it all really, the FOTR dvd and VHS combined has sold about 2.5 million copies so far (in the uk?) with 52% of these being the DVD. The only other DVD to come close to outselling the VHS version was Harry Potter TPS, where the DVD accounted for 37% of all sales. Here's a little statement from some guy at HMV: "(it)has been massive for us on DVD and our biggest ever week one release, eclipsing Harry Potter and our previous week one best seller The Full Monty. What's particularly impressive is the way that it has single-handedly doubled the market this week in what is normally regarded as a quiet month"

- on a side note apparantly the R2 version of FOTR has no macrovision protection so get youself a-pirating!! (j/k)

well it is no shit, never before has the DVD version of a film come close to selling more than the VHS version.
