Which is the greatest silent film ever made?
I voted for Murnau's masterpiece SUNRISE, which is one of my favorite films.
Poll.

I didn't see City Lights and voted 'Other', but that's what I meant to put.

I voted for Metropolis but I dont enjoy watching silent films. I mean I respect them for paving the way for what we have today, but I wont usually watch one for leisure, and I dont have any on my top 100 list.

The only one I've seen is Metropolis so that's where my vote goes.

Phantom of the Opera, although that and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari are the only silent movies I've seen

The only one I've seen is Nosferatu so I think you all can safely guess who my vote went to.

Good poll, Ricochet!
I also voted for Sunrise, which is also one of my favourite films. Good to see it's featured in the overall top 10 in 4 major international polls this millennium.
The best silents, imo:
1.Sunrise
2.Metropolis
3.Man with a Movie Camera
4.The Passion of Joan of Arc
5.Battleship Potemkin
6.The General
7.The Gold Rush
8.Nosferatu
9.The Chess Player
10.People on Sunday

City Lights
Pandora's Box

Oh, Shaw, this is a tournament after my own heart. Very difficult decision to make here.
City Lights, by a squiggit. I can't find any of the remastered Chaplins in my area. :(

Chaplin was king in the silent era. So, I'm gonna go with The Gold Rush. I still haven't seen "City Lights".
Nosferatu, Wings, and A Trip to the Moon were also great silent flicks.
