Ok so for a few weeks now every time I go to the cinema behind the counter I see a poster for Alien: DC and think cool they are showing it here. You'd think if they have a poster for it at the cinema it would be showing at that cinema right?

Wrong.

WTF? They are not showing it. They built all my hopes up of finally seeing one of my all-time faves on the big screen and piss on the ashes.

Multiplexes are killing cinema. Lying cunts. :(

Same thing happened to me.

NO ALIEN IN MY CITY!!!

The only thing that prevented me from turning into a big green mountain of Hulk rage was knowledge of the Big ass DVD box set coming soon.

I don't think he's off-topic at all. The topic is bullshitting multiplexes. A multiplex runs a trailer, then doesn't run the movie.

Sounds like bullshit to me.

My local cinema does that all the time, pretending like they're going to show every film even though they about six shitty screens.

They did it at the video shop I used to work at too, then all the customers would ask me "When's that coming out?" and I'd have to explain that it already is out but our asshole manager isn't stocking it. He was a maniac and I'm glad he went out of business.

Alien: DC is a bit of a special case though: Fox wanted their usual cut for new film from the cinemas, who were not prepared to do that because: 1. The movie is 24 years old, most people have seen it. And 2. It's coming out on DVD in 6 weeks time. Neither side was prepared to move much so as a result some cinemas that were gonna show it, didn't.

But on the whole you're right: Multiplexes suck.

Sorry, Im just replying to all the BS theater rants. To this one I say its not your theaters fault. Fox cut the ammount of prints by almost 1000 theaters before it was released. Next time do some research.

We're not just talking about Alien DC, we're talking about general false advertising. Maybe the theatre where you work is amazing and magical and never lies, but I have a friend who works at my local cinema and the managers promote a film only to not show it (nothing to do with distribution, just laziness and poor management) and my boss where I worked at the video shop did exactly the same.

Sorry. Next time I'll phone up Fox in America and ask them and maybe I'll write a report about it.

Why ring them up in America? If your in the UK you should ring Foxes UK branch. Ringing America from the UK is costy!
