View Full Version : Best movie to tell a girl you're into if you want to impress her

I know I know, every girl is different. But I wonder if there's a movie out there that every girl adores, but won't lose respect for you if you dig it too. I can't stand 95% of chick flicks but there's gotta be a movie out there that you can tell them you love and keep a straight face and your dignity in order to get in their bed.

Does such a thing exist?

Maybe if you say you liked pearl harbor...i think that would work, has romance for the chick, some kick ass fight scenes for the guy.

Exactly. Let's face it: PEARL HARBOR sucks. But girls like it, because it's big scale, it's Hawaii, and it's the story of one girl who has two cutie-patooties fighting for her without having much to do for it. Ain't it beautiful?

I'd say Pulp Fiction. The girls I know dig violence and were looking more forward to Texas Chainsaw than the guys were.

Movies not to tell girls you like:
Sound of Music- or any musical
Any John Wayne
Anything Disney

Unless you want her to think your a pussy.

Well, I'm a bit different from most chicks, but, most every intelligent chick will be happy if you admit to a few of the following;

Say Anything...
The Breakfast Club
Annie Hall
When Harry Met Sally
Bridget Jones' Diary
About a Boy
ANY Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn movie

Trainspotting*
True Romance*
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Heathers*
Shallow Grave*
The Godfather
Lord of the Rings
Harold and Maude*

*Sick sense of humor is a MUST.

Some of these will get you in good with most any chick, particularly Gilbert Grape and Butch Cassidy,

Not the fact they're John Wayne movies. The girls I know hate Westerns.

Well, I know I'm always impressed by a guy who likes "girlie" movies, but GOOD ones, such as:

Chasing Amy
Jerry Maguire
Bridget Jones's Diary
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Moulin Rouge!

And I've never had a guy tell me he liked Gone with the Wind, but I would consider that damn impressive!

I like Gone with the Wind. Impressed? :D

But as for my two cents on the subject, why not just tell her what you really like? No offense, but you have to be pretty pathetic to use "Hey, did you know I like Say Anything...?" as a pick-up line, especially if you don't even really like it. I'm sure they'll appreciate honesty more than your taste in movies. But that's just my way of thinking, and maybe that's why I haven't been so popular with the girls.

You're right. As a pick-up line it IS really lame...but, to be talking to a guy about movies and have him really enjoy Say Anything... or True Romance, well, it just makes me happy. Perhaps movies should not be used as THE way to reel someone in, but HONESTLY enjoying certain flicks never hurts.

PS. Never lie about liking a movie...it just...does not bode well for the relationship.

Almost every girl I know loves Pearl Harbor. It's an epic chick flick that will play (in a good way) with her emotions.

Pearl harbor is a good one.

Sleepless In Seattle is one all chicks dig. Dont know if you could keep a straight face while watchin it... but hey.. for sum sucky sucky its worth it.

with this one girl that i really liked (never got her sadly) her fav movie was fucking BROKEDOWN PALACE... so i sat through it just for her... at the end of it... seriously... WORST FUCKING MOVIE! So fucking boring. I kept on gettin on her for it.

ummm try Kids movies are always good. FINDING NEMO that would be a perfect one. Its cute its funny... thats the one. And its recent so it could hold a conversation rather than Lion King which is older and pry wouldnt be as good a convo piece!

Not that I really have much experience with this, but wouldn't it be better to be honest? I mean, if you tell a girl you like a movie that, in reality, you can't stand, she may expect you to watch it with her sometime. Do you really wanna take that risk?

I love Gone with the Wind. In fact, it's in my top 20.

That movie would be a good bet, others include: Casablanca, Sleepless in Seattle, Roman Holiday, Moulin Rouge!

Well actually I've accepted most girls don't dig on my favorite flicks, but I was just wondering if there was like a "perfect movie to tell a girl you're into". Just for curiosity sakes. I'm stupid and have a girlfriend anyways.

Jesus H...

Not a hope in HELL of getting in my knickers based on the abysmal selections thus far.

It doesn't matter how tasty you are...if you regale me with a tale 'bout the latest Hanks/Ryan instalment I'd be liable to kick you in the face...hard.

Anyway, safe bets IMO. Impress the (somewhat fickle) laydeez, without losing your cred'...

~True Romance
~Dead Man Walking
~Punch-Drunk Love

Erm...and I'm all out of suggestions.

I'm more up for a bloke who can sit through some hardcore Takashi Miike action or a bit of gratuitous in-out without breaking a sweat (or spilling 'associated waste')...but they're few and far between it seems.

I'd rather find out what music and movies the girl likes to see if I'm impressed with her. Many girls don't really look for artistic vision in movies and music. Women are wired a bit differently than guys. Flame on!!

Okay, with you on the 'wiring'...but don't tar us with that lack of artistic vision brush.

I know more about movies, musak and sexual deviancy than pretty much any bloke I meet on a day-to-day basis.

I can also whip up a mean roast dinner and I'm good with children and small animals (most notably fluffy kittens).

Modest...d'ya think?

I didn't say ALL women look at things differently than guys on these subjects, most do! Then again, I can say the same thing about guys too.

I try a little test on women. I always manage to work in Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" into conversation, and tell them how amazing and diverse just this one song is. If a girl says they don't like the song, I don't pan them right off the bat. If they say they can't appreciate anything about the song, I haveta kick them to the curb. :)
