I'm going to buy my first DVD Player real soon, but I know absolutely nothing about DVD and so I thought I'd ask around to people who know this more then I do. I'm looking for optimum picture and sound quality at a minimum price. Here are some DVD's I found that I'm interested in, tell me which one are the better which are crap, which one would you buy and why, your help is much appreciated.

you got one fucked up post there mate, I'll try and fix it!

To be honest with DVD players you're best off buying a brand you trust, I can't really help you out with specific models since I'm not from the US or Canada, but I'm sure some people on this board have these models. If not there's always google.

I highly suggest a Toshiba, we're very happy with ours. But in my opinion with something like DVD players what you buy is what you get so I wouldn't get the cheapest one.

Toshiba's are excellent, a friend of mine has one. I have a JVC myself (the one pictured in the first link) and it works like a dream.

Like Moviefan stated, with DVD players the more you pay the better the player is most likely but not always. I personally would not recommend buying a Sony DVD player because they don't have the features such as zoom and other very helpful features. I own a Panasonic and a Hitachi and they both have worked like a charm for me. Hitachi DVD players are the most durable brand of player that you can buy according to Consumer Reports and that's why I bought that brand. The Hitachi also has all the features that you could ever want. The Panasonic player also has all the features but its reliability brand wide isn't as good as Hitachi. Hitachi is also fairly cheap if you shop around. I bought my player for 110 dollars US.

All right it is done, I bought my DVD, it's the JVC one displayed in the first link. I am loving this stuff, it's so much better then video I feel like a kid in a candy store. I bought the LOTR widescreen DVD with it and I loved that too, god bless DVD.
