Well I just saw it on ET it was amazing anyone else seen it? You can view it on www.etonline.com, ...but you just gotta read my little 'event'

As I was looking at the new pics of Alexander movie, out of the blue I just typed in www.troymovie.com it took me to WB's official site...well I went on to yahoo.com typed in Troy hoping to see where the official website's at...I didn’t find it, but I clicked on Upcomingmovies.com link and went to Greg's Previews to look if it's listed somewhere there...It didn’t. But I clicked on Orlando Bloom site http://www.orlandomultimedia.net/troy/troyupdate.html and it had a News page saying "Troy trailer premiers tomorrow on ET!" so I clicked on it. Then looked at what date it was, it was Nov 5 of course, which is today. I then looked at the time and it was 6:50...I then thought "Wtf, ET is on right now" then I ran up upstairs, turned on the TV, channel 11 which is NBC...as the TV was loading, the screen was still black, the ET anchor says "Tonight is the night, we've got the exclusive premiere of Troy trailer" I was like "WTF" lol, That's so cool. It's like it was meant to be. What a cool event.

:D Definitely a day I will remember, things like these don't happen too often. :D

Look at my profile. See me mentioning Latin once or twice? Of course I'm excited. Good trailer, and faithful to the source.

I love that shot that just pulls out revealing more and more ships. In the audience for Revolutions (which did suck) you could hear at least 10 or 15 people going, "Holy shit". AMAZING trailer.

Same here. TERRIFIC teaser. This movie was already on my Top Three to-see list for 2004 (tied at number one with THE PASSION), and now it's just moved higher in my little anticipating heart. Bring it on!

I saw it before Revolutions (which was GREAT), and it was good. Not great, but it's a movie to see. Hope next trailers will be better.

BTW, I also saw the full trailer for The Last Samurai. OOOOOH, man, it's going to suck BIG TIME! It's in my list of "Avoid at all costs".

Don't know if he did. But I sure as hell agree with him. What the fuck is that shit? Tom Cruise as a samurai? plus the movie looks fucking horrible.

i'm sry moviefan1234 but i'm gonna have to join the consensus here :p...i don't know if it's gonna suck or not but i'm not looking forward to it at all (last samurai).

In any case, this teaser was solid, not an amazing teaser imo (but that might've had to do with my just watching the teaser for Day after Tomorrow) but a good one. It was good just to see some of the great sets and pieces in the movie, and the huge zoom out with the ships. This is still definitely at the top of my list (or close) for films i'm looking forward to next year.

I couldn't disagree more. It's going to be something special, the test reviews have been fantastic as have been the script reviews. The story looks great, the acting, and the cinematography looks stunning. It's directed by Edward Zwick and stars Tom Cruise for crying out loud!

I'm gonna have to say that I'm highly anticipating both Troy and The Last Samurai, which looks like it could be one of the best films of the year. Hard to tell in advance of course.

Troy is one film that's been on my must-see list ever since I first heard of it, but the teaser didn't really do that much for me for some reason. Just didn't grab me, really...And I didn't really care for the poster either. But those aren't really that important, I'm gonna see the film anyways.

Tom Cruise isn't nessecarily a samurai in The Last Samurai. For some reason people think he's playing a Japanese samurai. Doesn't the trailer clear that up?

And the shot with the ships being revealed is great because there actually is a line saying that "Helen was the face that launched a thousand ships". Wolfgang Petersen knows his stuff.

I can't wait for this film, it is the film of 2004.

Yeah, the scene at the beginning of the trailer when Cruise laughs at the dinner, it was something special. Reminded me of that special shit on a stick called Vanilla Shit, which was an specially tough movie to sit around without attempting suicide. And Mr Ego-Cruise is not a good actor if not directed by a good director, such as Oliver Stone and PT Anderson. There are prooves of it: watch any of his movies. Ed "The Siege, Legends of the Fall" Zwick is not what i'd call a midly tolerable director, so you do the match.

And this movie looks like Dancing With Japanese. Oh, so Tommy boy learns about how to become a man of honour by learning the samurai thing. Howwwwwww exciting. And more when I think in the vile manipulation and destruction of Spanish culture they made in M:I 2, another Cruise ego-tour, and the stupidity and offensiveness with which muslims are treated in The Siege by Zwick. No thanks. I'll be doing more interesting things, like teaching a goldfish to sing "Baby one more time" a capella while dancing "Macarena", instead of watching this film.

Or seeing Troy. Twice. I'd see Troy 10000 times before spending a single cent in Last Samurai. And I don't think Troy looks stunning.

When I first heard of this movie, I thought this was going to be a new Star Trek movie featuring the ship's counselor. :D But seriously, it looks like it might be a very good film. It's cool to see a realistic arm-to-arm battle that doesn't rely on wire-fu (take your pick of ANY recent movie). My only question is why all the sudden interest in things of the same era (two Alexander the Great movies in the future).

Tom Cruise is a good actor regardless of the director. In the last 15 years there hasn't been a bad performance of his, in my opinion. And be careful what you say about Zwick. Though The Siege was bad, Glory(9/10), Legends Of The Fall(8.5/10), and Courage Under Fire(8.5/10) all find a home in my DVD collection. You obviously probably will never see it, but I think if you'd give it an unbiased shot, you just may enjoy it. But, of course, to each their own. :)

Glory - 6/10
Legends of the Fall - 4/10
The Siege - 3/10
Courage Under Fire - 2/10

Tom's bad performances:

Vanilla Sky
M:I 2
Jerry Maguire
Interview with a vampire
The firm
Far and away
Days of thunder
Cocktail
Color of Money
Top gun
Legend
Losin' it

Tom's average performances:

Minority Report
Eyes Wide shut
Mission Impossible
A few good men
Rain man
Risky business

Tom's good performances:

Magnolia
Born on the 4th of July

Back to topic: I don't know if Troy is going to be more than an action film. If it is, then it can be great. If not, it'll be as entertaining as easily forgettable.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. I can't change your mind, and you can't change mine. But I am going to ask you to please at least give it a shot.

The Troy trailer was just fair. It didn't wow me or anything, but it's still one of my most anticipated movies of the future.

Troy looks AWESOME, says me. I can't see the trailer without hoping at some point they have Brad Pitt answering a cellphone in Troy-gear, but something tells me that the stupid producers who say "oh, this is a historical epic" won't have a sense of humor

I'm not saying that i'm not going to see it ever. I'm just not going to spend money on it. When it will show on TV, or if the ticket is free, i'll see it. But i have no interest on it. And, for the record, i wasn't intending to change your mind, just exposing my thoughts. It's hard to change someone's previous impression on a movie, if not impossible.

was it just me or were the ships in the troy trailer not moving? there was no wake behind them, and the water distortion in front was always the same. i was laughing for a while. to be honest that was the best parts of the matrix were that and a joke that was made by my friend about the last samurai..."what, did they run out of american extras for gettysburg?" he said that when tom cruise is oh his horse ordering the toops before all the samurai stuff happened.

The ships are waiting to go into battle. Until they're all there.

Out of the 4 recently released period-war film trailers (Troy, The Alamo, The Last Samurai, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), this is my least favorite (The Alamo looks the best). Brad Pitt looks cool, but it doesn't click with me overall, and the shot of the ships is already overrated here (:)), but I'll still see it and I look forward to seeing more.

P.S.: I was sad I missed it last night, but seeing The Aviator set-visit was more important to me. Now I know I missed very little...

I heard it was because the production went overlong and now they need more time for the epic post-production work. Still, either way, the full trailer, and, to a bit less of a degree, the teaser, look wonderful.

It got mixed reviews. There were positive and negative, but a movie of that scale shouldn't have mixed reviews, so, they're making some changes.

Damn , by the time this comes out , i'm going to have epic battle overload . Everybody and their mistress is trying to outdo each other with these grand war films . Let's see how many cgi extras we can fit into each frame , or how many warships , or how many pretty boy actors , or how many miniatures .

Yeah , Troy looks good , but when you spend 200 mil ( 100 mil for the cast alone probably ) on a film , what do you expect , at the very minimum , the visuals ( and audio ) , best look good .

And is it just me , or is there some sort of clause that Legolas has to be in every other freakin big budget " war " epic that's released ? I'm getting sick of seeing this guy already , damn .

Oh yeah , you knew there had to be an oh yeah . Pitt can't carry this film , and neither can the wild irishman , both of them are way better in limited , supporting roles , not something of this caliber . But , the fancy visuals should give them a bit of a boost , it may not matter in the end .

Ya, Peter has been in a pretty big flunk lately, he hasn't been in a big hit since Phantoms with Ben Affleck... i know everyone that read that now just laughed... Hopefully, this will put him back on the spot and make him as much of a star as he was in his hayday.

apparently pitt is Achilles, bana is hector, and legolas is Paris. I wonder if the story will involve the gods in any way or will it be strictly historical truth (as much as it can be) as opposed to the Iliad on which it is supposed to be based. I saw some shots of the legendary Trojan horse.

I agree very much. Is Troy not getting much buzz on our boards yet because it is so early to it's release? And since the Oscars are afoot as we speak, what do you think next year's Oscars hold for movies such as this?

But, my main question/point is over the fact Troy is not getting much attention from the schmoes. I am awaiting this as probably my most anticipated 2004 film! :)
