Now that the "final" (hmm) piece of the Matrix is out, which sequel did you like more? While so many people have trashed both movies, I have taken the side of both of them. Reloaded edges out Revolutions by a little for me because of Revolutions crappy first hour. Thought about adding the original to poll but the opinions for the first ones are very biased.

I, too, LOVED both of these films, but I am going to have to go with Revolutions. In my opinion it was a tad more powerful, and had more emotion than Reloaded, although both are fantastic.

i'm going with the matrix revolutions for the sake of a response, but now, i find myself thinking of "the matrix trilogy" rather than looking at them as seperate movies. they're all 10/10's if you ask me.

It's funny, I noticed that, too. Unfortunately, neither sequel was that good, so my splitting the difference

Matrix Reloaded(9.5/10)
Matrix Revolutions(9/10) went up from a 5/10, because I went to this flick, and came out with a bad taste in my mouth. But it could go higher with a 2'nd viewing, but I wanted more fighting, and I was not blown away by any of the Special effects. Just the Fist scene:)

Ya El, I know what you mean. Its hard for me to think of these movies seperately because they dont feel right (except the first) on their own. I wish they would edit the last two movies together.

Everyone has a right to post, and I think that saying The Matrix was a relevant enough statement to not be wasting a post. Maybe that's just me.

Anyway, Reloaded, because I could stomach it.

The Matrix Revolutions: 8/10

The Matrix 8/10
Reloaded 4/10
Revolutions 2/10

I'm just in a total state of confusion about why the last 2 are considered good films; I'd like to believe that everyone who likes them is a teenager who will get over it when they turn 20, but I doubt it. Revolutions is the worst film I've seen this year: it was poorly plotted, confusing, not greatly acted (and the frenchman was just awful); the action scenes weren't as good as reloaded, to many characters with not enough to do, bad dialogue- mainly the scene where smith as human is talking to neo, it goes on and on and on, in fact if I sat down and watched revolutions and listed all the flaws I saw in the film and then did the same with plan 9 from outer space I suspect revolutions list would be longer.

And the worst thing, THE worst thing is the belief that all the holes the film can be covered up by a "it's about religion, there are no answers as in real life, neo is jesus" style explanation. Bollocks. It's not the meaning of life it's a fucking stupid hollywood popcorn movie which is no more profound than Hudson Hawk, Die Hard 2: Die Harder or any other fucking stupid hollywood popcorn movie Joel Silver has ever made! The fact they would use such a ridculous cover story suggests imo that the filmmakers either are extremely lazy, or are completely inable to dig themselves out of their own plot holes. This annoys me!

So because you dont understand you can just label an age group? Anyway its hard to express what is is about the Matrix that makes people enjoy the series so much. I like the whole general concept of the movie. I love how the machines control the Matrix and how there are all these different characters, portrayed by humans, acting as computer programs like the architect, keymaker, train man etc. I also like the philosophical aspect of the films. There are lines that just make you realise your own workld even more. I thought mixing sci-fi and philosophy was a great combo.

Lets just review my marks for all three movies-

The Matrix- 9/10

Reloaded- 4/10

Revolutions-6.5/10

so i guess revolutions takes it. but i would like to point out that revolutions would be a 4/10, but the Battle for Zion kicked my ass all over the cinema. that sequence alone is worth 2.5 extra marks.

Yeah I think mixing sci fi and philosophy ain't a bad idea either but come on revolutions is hardly Metropolis is it? Hell it's philosophy is so confusing even Gene Roddenberry's silly hippy version of communism holds up better as meaningful sci fi. I mean, the kid who makes mistakes but comes good in the end, Trinitys woefully overblown death scene, the James Bond villain esque Frenchman- those bits aren't meaningful, they're cliches, and bad ones at that.

Now that I've had time to think, I'd say Revolutions is slightly better. At least because it doesn't have as much aggravating conversations about nothing

*SPOILERS*

Reloaded = the twins, freeway chase, playground brawl, badass music, and the Merovingian (who I thought kicked ass and was the best actor and part in the series, besides Monica Bellucci's breasts, but thats beyond the point). Rating: B-

Revolutions = big hype/no payoff, neo is a wussy, ONE FIGHT with neo, not enough stuff IN the matrix, Smith fucking dies, man, I mean CMON!, TOO MUCH RELIGION and too hastily put in there (I mean what was that last minute shit about Hinduism in the subway station, which by the way was talking about dharma NOT karma [that pissed me off :D ] and omfg when I saw that cross of light coming out of Neo I about shit myself right there in the theater). Rating: D

That being said, the original movie is the ONLY movie because even though #2 was O.k. it would make part 3 an inevitability, and that just can't happen.

for the record - The Matrix = A+

Reloaded was decent because of the third act, Revolutions stunk because the Wachowski ran out of ideas (aka ran out of good material to rip off).

It is hard for me to say this but..

Matrix-5/5

Relaoded-3/5

Revolutions-3/5

The first was a well made movie, but the second two seemed to spend too much time on useless characters and pointless pondering that led absolutely no where! There was no pay off and it just seemed like it ran out of gas.
