View Full Version : VAN WILDER & THE SWEETEST THING (Unrated/Uncut)
http://images.dvdempire.com/gen/movies/213974h.jpg
I didn't catch either of these in theaters but I want to see them both. My video store usually doesn't get the UNRATED versions of movies when they come out on VHS/DVD R-RATED/UNRATED. I might buy either both or one of these movies if I like them.
Anyway, if someone checks out the UNRATED and R-RATED versions of Van Wilder and The Sweetest Thing please let me know what the difference is between the two. I saw the UNRATED version of American Pie and it wasn't much different at all, only one scene, it definitely wasn't what it promised to be. Hopefully VAN WILDER and THE SWEETEST THING will deliver the goods, but my hopes aren't too high for the UNRATED editions.

I was wondering the same thing. I want to know what extra stuff has been added to Van Wilder because I may rent it.

What about The Sweetest Thing? Do you plan on seeing it?

I'm not sure... I'm not really looking forward to it, I don't really want to go out of my way to get it. I'll probably rent it in a few weeks when there is nothing else to get...

I just rented the "Van Wilder" unrated version 2- disc DVD, and it is awesome! The DVD menu is a chick who takes her shirt off every time you click on something. I never saw the R rated version so I can't tell you how much they changed, but all in all, I had a very good time!

I'm not sure about the R rated version, but the unrated version of The Sweetest Thing has a lot of references to the male genitalia, lesbians, and oral sex.
Oh yeah, I just noticed this. If you go to the scene selection portion of the dvd, there is a little white ball next to the chapter title that lets you know that chapter contains footage not released in the the theaterical version. There are only 4 chapters that contain these "unseen" footage:
Chapter 1: Start
Chapter 3: Dancing Fools
Chapter 5: Touchy Feely
Chapter 10: The Penis Song
Hope this helps!

i bought VAN WILDER because i saw it in theaters and i loved it. i really couldnt tell u what the difference is, but i can tell u that if it's there its minor and noone will pry notice. one thing i saw on the back of the box was "unrated exclusive: topless tutor" and i watched that deleted scene and it was the 2 gay guys who tried out to be van's assistant getting tutored by a male, and they get a question correct and the dude dances around in his panties! i stuck w/ it FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE that i thought there would be another scene in there that showed boobs! but no such luck! and the nenu's kick ass, just make sure u have them clicked to be uncensored menus, because if you dont, everytime she takes off her shirt u will see a big CENSORED bar over her boobs!

I saw the R-Rated versions of both flicks this last weekend because those are the only versions my video store carried. Right now I couldn't tell you what the difference is but I do plan on buying the UNRATED version of The Sweetest Thing so then I'll know. But I do know that "The Penis Song" wasn't in The Sweetest Thing R-Rated version, it was cut, but it is on the UNRATED version. That's about all I know.

I never saw Van Wilder or The Sweetest Thing when they came to the movies. So I decided to buy them both on un-rated dvds. I really enjoyed both movies

Van Wilder(7/10) was hilarious and I am going to buy that for sure in the near future. I have absolutely no idea what the "unrated footage" is but if it's like the usual unrated stuff it's probably nothing major. The Sweetest Thing(1/10) was one of the most horridly unfunny movies I have ever seen and is easily on my worst ever list. So plain dumb that I would have shut it off half way throught if it weren't for my friends girlfriend. When Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate are dancing in their bras and underwear and I'm thinking,"Get off my damn screen!" that might be a hint about the flick. The only good thing about this movie is Jason Bateman. The man is actually a very good/funny actor and deserves to be in a lot more movies.

I picked up The Sweetest Thing:Unrated and here are the differences:
The opening scene with all the guys talking about Cameron Diaz's character is quite a bit longer. One of the men keeps talking about her being a lesbian.
When the three girls first go to the club their arrival is extended. They go inside and look around from a balcony and then go down the stairs.
The bathroom scene where Christina Applegate is having the women feel her breasts is a little longer and includes a part where a woman throws up.
And lastly, there is a big musical/dance number called "The Penis Song" where the women pretend to have orgams and sing about penis's being too big to fit in certain parts of their bodies. It's actually kinda funny.
