I couldnt find the old thunderbirds thread (if there was one) so here is the new one.
I dont really see the point in a new movie nevertheless a live action one. To start the series again is wrong, the series is done and perfect the way it is. Although the teaser trailer for it on the HULK dvd is entertaining, the cgi looks crap, soo crap it will shut the mouths of the ppl who though hulk looked like shrek.
i cant stop a new movie, and i probably will end up seeing it, but i just dont see the point to it. It's takin old tv show into movie remakes just too far.

But, making Thunderbirds live action would take away the entire coolness of Thunderbirds.

EXACTLY!!!!
The whole point to thunderbirds's succes was because they were PUPPETS (and funky at the time, lol, who uses funky anymore?). Using real people or cgi would just lose the point and make the whole thing look totally stupid and like some shitty d grade kids sci fi flick. I could be proven wrong but so far i'd say im rite.

You are totally right. As uncool as it may seem, I'm a big fan of the Thunderbirds and I have every episode and the two feature movies on DVD. Back in '92 I had all the action figures and all the Matchbox craft. I even like to watch an episode every now and then.
Thunderbirds could be a great movie. Seeing puppets on the screen, enhanced with CGI, could be a blast for old and new fans. But the way it's made by that stupid Trekkie spoils it for everyone older than 10. He's aiming for a Spy Kids audience, and I'm not saying that Thunderbirds wasn't for kids, but way back old people liked it too. The stories weren't too cliche, too childish (heck, in one episode someone even dies!) and the special effects were awesome in that time.
Seeing all the pics and the trailer has made me long to the nineties, when someone tried to start a Thunderbirds-movie but could never get it off the ground. I wish that had happened this time...

Well I agree TB was cool in it's time, hell it is even cool now. Just like Captain Scarlett, etc.
I guess the South Park dudes were trying to make a spoof of TBesque type movies but it was shot down. Now that would have been great.
But a live action TB is stupid. They could have made one back then but the point was to use a different medium, idiots!
And if this continues we will see live action movies of everything that was muppet or puppet based. So look for the live action Thomas the Tank Engine movie followed by the Teletubbies Real Life!
It is just ridiculous.

I'd much rather see a Captain Scarlet flick.
I would have to be aimed towards a adult audience with a much darker tone. The Mysterons scared the bejesus out of me as a kid but I wouldn't like a Thunderbirds flick. Anyway, is it not in production ?

They already made it. It's called Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Alec Baldwin and Peter Fonda were in it.
As for Thunderbirds, I'll give it shot since the kick ass Bill Paxton and Ben Kingsley are in it and it's directed by the kick ass Jonathan Frakes!

I agree with the general concensus on this thread that Thunderbirds will very likely suck hairy dogs balls and that making it live action completely negates what made thunderbirds funky in the first place.

PS - Was Captain Scarlett the puppet adventure show where the main characters catchphrase was "Expect the unexpected"???

I can relate totally to your post moobycow, as a child, the voice of the Mysterons scared the bejesus out of me. I would love to see what they can do in the way of a remake of this great show.
