"The Sydney Morning Herald talked to Lauren Shuler Donner about the X-Men franchise and she has some very good news for the fans.

According to the producer, they are developing X-Men 3 and plan to follow it up with a Wolverine spin-off movie, with Jackman starring in both.

"The ideal thing will be to do Wolverine after X-Men 3 and that's what we plan to do," Shuler Donner said. "We'll probably develop Wolverine at the same time, but we'll do X-3 then we'll do Wolverine."

And all the fans gather to do a collective cheer of YES!."

Shawn Ashmore tells us that he's optimistic that all the X-Men will be regrouping in front of the cameras to fight for the rights of mutants everywhere by next fall.

"It's a big cast to get together," notes the 24-year-old Richmond-born star, who plays Bobby "Iceman" Drake. "But I think it's pretty much everybody coming back. I can't wait to find out what the story is this time."

Ashmore also confirms reports that Halle Berry is up for weathering another round as Storm, as long as her hours are shortened and her role is lengthened. Berry, like Ashmore, was stuck in Vancouver for almost the entire six-month shoot even though their screen time was minimal -- too many major characters competing for attention.

Ashmore and Berry ran into each other soon after the young actor arrived here to shoot the Nick Cannon film, The Underclassman, for Miramax (which also features X2 alumni Kelly Hu).

"Our production office was at Catwoman's studio space," says Ashmore, "so I just kind of bumped into her on the lot. A lot of the same people crew-wise that were working on X2 are working on Catwoman so it was a nice little reunion."

Im glad shes coming back, if thats true. She is a good Storm and adds a point to the movies rating with her hotness. Just add Famke and Rebecca and X3 should be about a...... 15/10

Yeah I hope they can get Halle back because they need Storm. If she can do Catwoman and a Bond spinoff (well i guess thats no longer happening), then she's not too classy to play Storm again. Although it may be hard to make her more of a star as she seems to want, especially if they focus on The Phoenix and/or Wolverine as suggested in the above article. She does need to realize though, that the X-Men movies are definetely ensemble films, much like the LOTR films.

She can be pretty powerful against the Phoenix though. I mean just tossin lightning bolts at her left and right would be prety neat to see. Shed get knocked the hell out soon by Phoenix, but what the hell she tried.

What actually takes down Phoenix? I dont remember.

Doesnt Nightcrawler BAMF over to her and put some device on her head so that Charles can enter her thoughts more freely and take her down?

Well, I remember Jean fighting a telepathic duel with Xavier, letting go of her evil side, falling naked to the floor (yummy), and then the X-Men get beamed to the moon where they gotta fight for Jean's life, because she destroyed a planet when she was the Dark Phoenix.
Once up there, Jean becomes the Dark Phoenix again, and the X-Men have to fight her again. But she finally leads herself to her death, because she knows that if she lets her "dark side" take over, then it'll be too late for anyone to terminate her sexy little booty.

That's what I got from the comic books. That being said, I don't think the moon part is gonna be believable on screen... ;)

What happened to the idea of not having Jean in X3 but having her come back as the Phoenix in X4? I remember Schuler-Donner had talked about that option a while back. Now it seems like a X4 isn't even assured (with the Wolvie spin-off and all), and I want to have Famke back in X3. Yeah...BRING ON THE DARK PHOENIX, me says!

Halle Berry is easily replaceable. I couldn't give two shits if she came back or not. In fact...I'm kinda hoping she doesn't come back.

As long as Jackman and MacKellan return, I'll be a happy little boy.

Like Lex says in some ways both X-Men films are already Wolverines Part 1 & 2.

So like him I don't see much point in having a solo spin off.

Unless they explore the samurai warrior angle in depth.

As for Berry she can get tae fuck.

If she never made another film again it'd be too soon.

What the hell, Halle Berry doesn't play Storm. She plays some character with the same name, powers and Hair colour.

Any body who's read a single issue of the comics knows that Storm is so much more than what has appeared in the movies.

I love the idea of having Famke back for Dark Phoenix in X3. About this Wolverine spin-off though, no. I don't think that's a good idea. He gets enough screen-time and story in the first two films and doesn't need a movie to himself.

I would like Halle to come back, she wasn't too bad as Storm but wasn't great, the main thing is that I hate actors being changed in the middle of a trilogy or whatever.

I think the only actors that needs to return for the movie to work would have to be Jackman, Stewart, Jansen, and Mckellan. Famke needs to be back cuase the movie will revolve around Pheonix.

I hope they go with the SHI'AR storyline instead of the Hell Fire Club route cause that would just be lame.
