WHOA!

now more than ever i can't wait for this film...burton is my favorite director (even though i aven't placed any of his films in my20 favorites films at ymdb) and this seems like it'll be his best by far...

ETA: And unlike Cold Mountain, this came from very good source material, so it'd be hard to screw it up (anyone who can get a copy, read the book sometime...it's really well done, and it's a really fast read)

Well, I won't take them much in count. Why? Because everytime I've heard a movie gets a very good early review in this site, it gets finally bashed by most of the critics. Prooves?

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Daredevil
The Matrix Revolutions

And i think there was another, but i can't recall now...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the movie's going to be fantastic, doesn't matter what critics say.

I have been waiting for this one ever since I first heard about it and now, after a damn-sexy trailer and a beautiful poster (oh, and those reviews...which I didn't read), I am more pumped than ever.

I am pretty certain Big Fish will be Tim Burton's best movie since Ed Wood. Words cannot express how much I am anticipating this movie.

CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT

This is my #1 most anticipated film of the year. Albert Finney will undoubtedly win a Best Supporting Oscar. This can't come to Cinci soon enough.

EDIT: One of the best quotes from the reviews on Ain't it Cool is this gem:

"To those that compare this to Forrest Gump, while sharing some story elements, the film really reminded me of The Godfather Part II."

Certainly excites one.

I have to miss the opening of this flick, which breaks my heart, but...I cannot WAIT. It looks splendid, and something tells me that the reviews will stay consistent.

This movie looks AMAZING. An excellent cast and an excellent director. It looks stunning. But i dont wanna get my hopes up coz im scared.....there is little room for pretenious and ridiculous garbage. But i have faith in Burton. I love everything he did....i even enjoyed the Planet of the Apes (albeit he shuoldnt of done it).

I'm only seeing this because Mike D'Angelo gave it a 62/100, so there might be something interesting; otherwise, it looks like a Forrest Gump (shit) rip-off with Burton's typical weirdness.

i just saw the trailer the other night at the cinema...i was totally taken back. i knew the casting and everything, and that it was a burton film, but it did look stunning.

i haven't gotten around to reading any reviews, maybe i won't.

You know those threads where people don't like a director but they come in anyway, just to say 'I don't like this director and I have no intentions of seeing this movie'?. And then those other threads, where people say something like 'I won't see this film but I KNOW it will be the biggest pile of shit ever'...then people get all mad and say stuff like 'how can you say that without seeing the movie, that makes no sense, why did you bother to post here?'. Then the poster replies and says 'this is a discussion board last time I checked', and then it gets all very tense. Yeah, know those threads? Well I don't like Tim Burton's movies and I have no intention of seeing this film. I also think it will be the biggest pile of shit this year.

End transmission.

Ah Reigh, how I love you :D

Anyways, I won't be reading the book because I want to enjoy this movie as a movie, not an adaptation. I'll read the book afterwards.

How could you? This saddens me, an experienced schmoe like yourself who doesn't like Tim Burton?! I've lost all faith in Scottish schmoes, they're all dunces (apart from myself of course ;)) with rubbish taste in movies (also, apart from myself ).

Big Fish looks amazing! Tim Burton is one of my favourite directors, his unique visual style can not be topped by anyone else. Big Fish also has the advantage of a brilliant cast (Finney, McGregor, Lange, Bonham Carter etc) so nothing can go wrong. I expect I'll be giving it a 9 out of 10 or even the big 1 0 which I rarely ever do.

just curious, where did you hear that? all i've ever heard is positive for the book...

well, i trust my own judgement the most (obviously :p) and i loved the book...it was funny, touching, and fantastical in the best way possible. and the Rashomon parts in the book works well too (u'll know what i'm talking about if you read it or probably if u see the movie) the only thing missing in the book was somehting to link all the tall tales together (it was divided into many chapters, some as short as half a page long, some several pages long) and i have herad that the movie improves on the book by linking everything together through a circus event.

if anyone wants to know anymore about the book, here's the amazon link....there are curiously very few reviews of the bookr ight now...in fact, when i borrowed the book from the library, i was told i was the first person who had borrowed it since they first got it but i'm sure that it will be borrowed a lot more in the months to come.

Big Fish has been officially rated:

PG

by the BBFC (the British equivilant to the MPAA).

Most likely little kids will be dragged along to it. You could say I'm less than enthusiastic about the idea.

I figured as much as PG...That means it could be an overseas hit. Definitely not limiting itself to a certain audience.

I was convinced back when I first heard of the movie. Sounds right up the Academy's alley.
