View Full Version : The Black Dahlia - Josh Hartnett, murder, a bisexual woman!!!
This is from Dark Horizons:
The Black Dahlia: Josh Hartnett is in talks for the long-troubled adaptation of James Ellroy's classic noir novel "The Black Dahlia". The story is a fictional take on the story of two cops obsessed with the notorious unsolved murder case in 1947 of Elizabeth Short, an aspiring actress found dead and mutilated in a vacant LA lot where she was dumped after apparent days of torture. The police officers in question are both ex-boxers who are in love with the same woman - a bisexual woman who may have slept with the 'Dahlia' herself. Brian De Palma is currently attached to direct according to Production Weekly, DePalma replaces"Fight Club" helmer David Fincher who has long been a part of the production in question which has been stuck in 'development hell' for years now. Thanks to 'FanHalen'.
I really like Josh Hartnett, and I like the idea of some possible lesbian action, so I'm definitely game. Could be fun!

Fincher would have been ten thousand times better for this than DePalma IMO.
And Hartnett is a just another pretty face in Tinsel Town.
I'll reserve judgement because the book is amazing.
But no one should be expecting the next LA Confidential out of this I suspect.

Hartnett? Not that i hate him, but he doesn't fit any character from the novel. Good choice of director if he has a good writer and a good producer behind. I'd prefer Fincher, though.
This is from Dark Horizons:
The Black Dahlia: "Scarlett Johansson will star in The Black Dahlia, opposite Josh Hartnett and Mark Wahlberg for director Brian De Palma. In the fictional account of the notorious 1947 murder, Johansson plays Kay, a doppelganger for the title character, and the object of affection for two police officers (Hartnett and Wahlberg) investigating the brutal murder of Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Short. Shooting begins late May in LA..."
Wow, the addition of Scarlett to the cast just makes things all that much better. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Mark? Good! Scarlett? Mmmmmm... i don't know, she's capable but a bit miscast according to the role she has... IMO, of course.

I adore Josh Harnett. The storyline sounds VERY interesting... and some lesbo action would be nice too:D

Hartnett and Whalberg are completely unsuited to the characters IMO.
Johansen isn't tho.

Wasn't that Madeline Sprague? If I remember correctly Madeline looked like the Dahlia... not Kay. Seems like the writer has mixed the characters up.
I like the cast so far and De Palma seems like the right person to direct this. Can't wait to see the end product.

This looks damn good. It has a great cast and director. Hopefully it'll be a return to greatness for De Palma. He's done nothing since Mission: Impossible.

I remember seeing an old tv movie about this. It was interesting...an updated movie could be good. Please, no Josh Hartnett, though. I don't even remember the male characters, though...seems like Lucie Arnez played the lead.

I have about 127 pages to go. Wow, this is a great book. First things first. Josh Hartnett is an ok choice. But Wahlberg is not who I pictured playing Lee. I was thinking more like Big Earl from Twin Peaks. But that's just me.
DePalma=a great choice for director. I was reading some of the parts. Brutal murder, lesbians, corruption, loads of steamy sex scenes. De Palma was born to direct this!
I personally cant wait until this hits.
