View Full Version : Worst Batman villian.

This is a no-brainer for me. Mr.Freeze was by far the worst Batman villian. His costume was beyond cheesy, and Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed like he was performing the role in a high school play.

Ya, Freeze blew. Uma was at least somthing to look at playing Ivy ;). The character of Freeze was just so pathetic, not to mention the he made more puns than Joker did in the first one, and he isn't even supposed to be the funny villian.

BANE !! They took my favorite bat-villian and turned him into a retarded-mumbling-fat guy, what the $#@&.
Mr. Freeze is numero uno. And Bane was just terrible. I'm trying to get Batman and Robin out of my head since I saw it years ago, this thread isn't helping. Unfortunately, Perrili called it as well. It looked as if Bane was in a big, fat, moldy, rubber suit. That movie was terrible, just terrible. They should've not hired Arnold and saved 25-30mill. and used that on less comic book crapiness and more originality that was like Tim Burtons' 1 and 2.

Bane should definetely have his own movie. Hes such a badass in the comics.
Ive said this before and Ill say it again: Bane in the comics was not some (yellow) idiotic henchman! Bane was a brilliant scientist and amazing russian assasin that developed a formula that made him ten times as strong as he already was. In B&R he looked like some geek kid and kept saying "EXIT!" "BANE SMASH". When in reality Bane was just as intellignet as Bats was.
Hopefully they will , and they could, bring in a newer better Bane for his own film. He could say somethign like, "they stole my formula, but nothign can replace the original"
So yeah, we can only hope.

Definately Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. I don't think Batman & Robin was quite as bad as alot of people think it is (though it certainly isn't a good movie) but it has absolutely the WORST villians in the Batman franchise and some of the worst movie villians of ALL time as well. Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman gave terrible performances in that movie.

Think you are mixing up Bane and the KGBeast there Adam. Bane was born on a prison Island somewhere in latin America, and spent his whole life in the prison, doing time for his father I think. I will agree with you that he was just as intelligent as Batman tho, but I dont think he was a scientist. The venom that made him super-strong was given to him by scientists, testng it on the prisoners.
Of course the way comics work, I may have missed a re-tooling of the character somewhere along the way. Maybe he was russian.

If you're going by the movies, pretty much any villain post-Batman Returns was bad (by my standards). Loved the Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman in Burton's movies, but the ones following were a disgraceful mockery of the comics.
But if you're going by comics alone, one of the worst villains I've ever encountered is Anarky. What a boring, annoying little shit.

I thought Max Shrek was awsome bad guy! Of coarse any bad guy (or any guy period for that matter) played by Christopher Walken is awsome!
Freeze and Poison Ivy are the only villians I didn't like. I've enjoyed all of the others. Which kinda sucks about Freeze. He could have potentially been a really cool bad guy who actually has a somewhat interesting and tragic story. Of coarse really bad writing and bad acting on Arnold's part ruined that potential!

Bane is probably my favorite Bat villian NOW. (NOT the movie BAne)
The problem is that they completely changed him as a character. Bane is a super-intelligent/body-builder-hired assassin thats hired to kill Batman. Hes so intelligent in fact that he develops a serum to increase muscle mass.
Intellect wise hes equal to Batman.
Strength wise, he far surpasses him.
Making him one of the greatest foes for Batman, although he never has had much of a problem with society or anything like that, so cinematically, he wouldnt be very interesting methinks, because all he wants is to kill Batman.
But God I hope they bring him back.

the worst batman villian was probablly king tut because if he was like 3000 years old he would just crumble
RustyRazor
10-21-2005, 10:12 AM
King Tut was a history professor (Victor Buono) that got hit on the head and "thought" he was the original King Tut.
If you're talkin' 60's Batman, my worst is Vincent Price as Egghead.
The "egg" references in every friggin' sentence and that big bald head?
Come on!
If it's the new Batman movies, I definitely say Poison Ivy and Bane, but because Schumaker (the director) f**ked it up.
Everything had to be light FOR THE CHILDREN!
Everything had to be campy FOR THE CHILDREN!
It can't be too dark!
It's Batman! He's supposed to be dark and the villains are supposed to be EVEN MORE SO!
So what does Schumaker do? Throw a bunch of neon and day glow colors into a movie that could have been done a lot better and hung a dead mackerel around a lot of good actors' necks.
Thurman, Clooney, O'Donnell, Silverstone, even Schwartzennager can act. NO ONE could have saved this timebomb of a film.

I'm pretty sure I know what Nolan was trying to accomplish with the whole "taser face" thing, and that is an emphasis on his ultra practical realistic Batman. If a chick has a taser, and is being chased by a straight up psychopath on a stallion...she's going to fuckin use it. However I, along with many other people I presume, would have much rather seen a 3 to 5 minute chase sequence. Given the setting...It could have been very tense, and with Cillian Murphy's extraordinarily creepy acting abilities, could have been f'ing scary. But oh well, Nolan is a god among men, and whatever he does at this point is fine with me.
I've said it about a million times, but I think once more, and probably more after that, is called for.
Thank God for Nolan.

Its a no brainer; the worst Batman villains (for me) are the ones who appeared in "Batman & Robin", with Bane being the worst of the bunch (and Freeze coming in second, with Ivy last).
Also, what I hated about "Forever" ('though I do like the movie) was Tommy Lee Jones' protrayal of "Two Face". The character is a cold, brooding type (kinda like Batman) but in the movie he might as well have been The Joker. Hopefully, Nolan's Two Face will redeem the character, which I'm sure he will since how well he made "Begins", any character is safe under Nolan's direction (then again, any character is safe AWAY from Schumacher's direction).

the original batman was what it was because of the joker. the joker is supposed to laugh and make jokes, and thats what he did, he danced around and laughed as he shot people. without jack as the joker in that movie, it wouldn't have been what it is. thats that and if you disagree your just insane and WRONNGGGGGG!!!!!

IMO (In my opinion) is your friend on this site guy, and trashing what other people think isn't...It's best you realize this...
For Instance,
IMO, Jack as the Joker was just as much a disgrace to the character as Shumacher's portrayals were. Had Jack played the Joker in a Schumacher movie, this would have been more apparent, and people would rip on it just as much as they do freeze. Jack is a fantastic actor...but that's all it was. It was just him being a jackass on screen...which is not the Joker. Not once while watching him as the Joker did I feel intimidated, or shocked by his behavior. Joker is supposed to be as sinister as he is off the wall. There is a difference between crazy and psychotic, Jack possessed the former, while Joker exudes the latter.
I can easily agree that his performance was fun to watch, but it hardly captured the Joker. Hopefully Nolan will realize this, and not try to re-capture what Jack did.
IN MY OPINION.

No waste at all.. Murphy played Crane not Scarecrow and either way the Scarecrow would've ended up the same way he did with longer screen time.
In all the comics the Scarecrow is defeated in the dumbest way and always runs off like a mentally retarded coward. They got the Scarecrow PERFECTLY.

First off, I strongly disagree with the opinion of the joker being the worst villain. I think no one could be more menacing or psychotic than Jack Nicholson in that role, it was the perfect fit. I think there was a comment about him being too silly in his performance or something well...ya he is the Joker...that's pretty appropriate if you ask me. Secondly, I loved the Mr. Freeze from the animated series and wished they portrayed him in a similar manner during Batman and Robin. Although Arnold is one of my favorite action heroes, this time i think he has to take the fall for worst villain in the Batman franchise. "Ah there's my exit cue."

I actually thought Tommy Lee Jones' Two Face sucked badly. Maybe it was because he was too old, or he's the only villian who's genesis was shown in a 15-second news clip, or that he had no time to do anything interesting with his character against Carrey's cracked-out Riddler.
Two Face deserves on-screen redemption more than ANY other Batman villian, besides maybe Bane. I hope Nolan rectifies that.

The Batgirl character from the movie seemed like she was paying homage to the Batgirl from the 1960's TV show. Not doing much, maybe a kick and a punch...pathetic!! The REAL Batgirl lives for the thrill of the adventure. She's eager to kick ass, and smart.
