Just curious which brand of DvD players everyone owns. Or even if they just use their pc, playstation 2, or Xbox.

Myself ive got a Toshiba SD-K310 Multi-region player. With 80% of my DvD's imported region 1's I thought it was a good choice http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Though it cant play RCE DvD's http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

Also use the Playstation 2 at times for viewing Pal Region 4 DvD's with the offical Sony Remote, and the good old pc to make captures with Nvidia's DvD Playing Software optimized for Geforce Cards.

Own a Xbox, but only used for games....

I own a Toshiba. Don't know the specs but I bought it when DVD players first appeared on the market. It cost me $400 and it was the cheapest one at the time. This was back in '98.

I ahve a really shitty Toshiba player, it's a right bastard with layer changes and can't be hacked unless chipped. I also have an LG DA-3520 which is my pride and joy since its a multi-region home cinema system.

I have a JVC XV-S300 which I see costs only $219 now. Ugh, I bought for much more a while ago. But I love it.

I've used Zenith , Sony and JVC players, and I think Sony is the best.

I have the Philips 710. A decent player, region-free (it is hackable via the remote), plays RCE titles and hasn't given me any trouble in the three years I've owned it.

I use my PS2 on very rare occasions.

I have a PS2, but I only use it for games...the DVD part sucks on it.

My DVD player is, of course, Toshiba.

Toshiba IS the best brand of DVD player and TV. I need to get a Toshiba TV soon, I'm stuck with *gasp*...an RCA...

Ooooh...The sooner you get rid of it, the better!

Toshiba's are incredible, my dad has a "retired" one that lasted 15 years and was still looking great.

Does anyone recommend the JVC brand?

I'm thinking about getting a 55" widescreen projo. JVC...I can pick it up for 1,300, 700 bucks off the regular price.

Anyone like or dislike JVC brands for any reason?

I'm not sure about TVs, but I have a JVC DVD player that works wonderfully.

SONY x 2. A regular player and my PS2. Problem free so far (knocks on huge-ass slab of dead tree).

Pioneer DV-626D (the one with Macrovision removed). In my opinion, Pioneer are the best DVD player manufacturers EVER. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have had too many DVD players...

One was a Genica (sp) which removed Macrovision and was region-free, but it didn't have internal PAL/NTSC or NTSC/PAL conversion. Plus, it was weird and froze on me.

I then had two different Sampo players which were decent. Region free, Macrovision free and with a P/N-N/P converter.

I now have a Daewoo 5800 (I think). It's basically the same as the Sampos.

I have a 14" flat-screen Toshiba TV with ColorStream. Whatever that is. ^^;

IMO, Pioneer is the best product right now. Followed by Panasonic and JVC. Wouldn't touch Sony (had too many problems with their products over the years).
