Any of these four would satisfy me:
Hugh Jackman - Probably costs too much
Clive Owen - Solid possibility
Christian Bale - Probably won't happen with Batman on the horizon
Paul Bettany - With his hair dyed black

I really wanted to see Bale do it. alas, its probably not going to be...
I would have to go with Clive Owen. he looks the part and i think he is competent enough to pull it off.

Owen. Solid actor, and enough people have seen him in THE BOURNE IDENTITY to know that he can prove himself worthy as an action-oriented character.

Out of those choices, definitely Clive Owen.
But I don't think Pierce is done in quite yet.

Clive Owen would be fantastic. Hugh Jackman too, but I'd rather have him be just Wolverine and Van Helsing...Bond needs a full-time Bond. ;)

Just cause he's one of my faves.

I hate this bloody question! As far as I'm concerned none of the supposed candidates really jump out me as who should be the next Bond. I hope Brosnan still has a few left in him eventhough he said just one more.

Bettany would be a fine choice, if you would, yes, dye his hair.

Actually, I think he could pull it off. But my top pick would Hugh Jackman though Clive Owen seems like a good choice too. But I hope Pierce Brosnan changes his mind and sticks around for one or two more movies. He's starting to get old but I still think he has a couple left in him.

Clive Owen no question. The other names mentioned were good but they are not Bond!

Of the choices offered I have to also agree with Clive Owen, but overall Im actually keen to see Brit actor Jack Davenport take the role...

Fair enough - he'd be my second choice for sure.
Cleese is apparently very keen on Davenport though for what it's worth.

Clive Owen does fit the mold but he said doesn't want it if he was in the running by the producers/directors or MGM-UA.

Anyone but Colin Farrell. I'd like to see Christian Bale take a shot at it, but like you said it's not likely with Batman.

Following the recent media hype about who should play 007 in the next Bond film, Sky News launched a poll to find out who the public would like to see in the classic tux in November 2005.
Pierce Brosnan won with a land-slide 44.82%.

Well, I was going to say Clive Owen and obviously we all agree in that. Anyway, if it is going to be directed by Quentin I `d like to see Brosnan one last time. He`s great in telling stories and manipulating the characters.
I believe that Owen will do a great job, but I couldn`t help thinking what would happen if they make a Bond movie where he is old now and... retired may be? I mean like asking Sean Connery to do one more.

I want Brosnan back for one more! I agree that DAD was a lousy ending for his Bond career - he deserves a shot at a classic Bond film. Give me 'Casino Royale' with Brosnan in the tux and Tarantino behind the camera and I'll be one happy schmoe. If it's not Brosnan, I would prefer Jackman over anyone else, but feel that Owen would be suitable too. Thank God it's not going to be Bana - I don't want my Bond looking like Corey Feldman!

High Jackman isn't right. He's too much of a tough guy... and he's already Wolverine and Van Helsing. An actor should only play so many signature roles.
Christian Bale would be perfect... in about ten years. Sadly now that he's Batman, probably won't happen. See above.
Clive Owen is a great pick, but has no one given a thought to Ralph Fiennes?! First off, he's British. Secondly, he's perfect for the spy type (see his performance in The Avengers). Third, he's buff enough (see Red Dragon). And Fourth, he's a great actor.
Ewan Macgreggor would be bad. Bond shouldn't be more feminine than the Bond girls. Besides, he's too young.
Lloyd2315

How would Ewan McGreggor be a bad Bond? He has shown great diversity in his roles, and doesn't have alot of prominent roles to be tied to.

I want Clive Owen to be the next James Bond. He's sauve, dark, English, and sexy. But what about Hugh Jackman you say?
First of all, he's not English, he's Australian, not that we should hold that against him. Second of all, he seems more like James Bonds' younger dopier brother then James Bond himself. Can you imagine the guy who was in Kate and Leopold saying, "Bond, James Bond, and not break out laughing. Sorry, but no one would buy it.
Jason Isaac's would be interesting as would Christian Bale but as neither one of them are going to get the part, those friggin' hollywood pricks won't give Jason Isaac a chance mark my words, I have to go with the best of the bunch, Clive Owen.

I have the idea of a Connery comeback movie por quite a while... M would call him back because the new enemy of hte Queen´s security is asking for him (in a "Die Hard with a vengeance" way)... this enemy would be played by Rupert Everett and would actually be a lost son of Bond.
Cool enough?
Now being more realistic I like Eric Bana to play James Bond

Right now the major contenders are Clive Owen and Daniel Craig.
Both I think are solid choices. If you go with Clive Owen, you get more of a Connery-Daltonesque Bond. You go with Daniel Craig, you get a more Mooresque Bond. I think that would be win win.
Not sure if they look right?
Check out Owen in Croupier and Craig in Layer Cake.

Hugh Jackman I can't see at all fitting the role. Maybe its the long hair I guess throws me off, or I dont know.
I would love Christian Bale to do it, he is one of my favorite actors, but I still can't picture him either.
Clive Owen is the best choice to be the next bond IMO.
OR NO WAIT OMG QUENTIN TARINTINO COULD DO IT...........................:D

Hugh Jackman is out. 'Nuff said.
Clive Owen is working on the 2nd Sin City...he's a definite maybe.
We need someone with suave and tough...difficult decision.
If Viggo Mortenson was British he'd be perfect.
Paul Bettany is just not right.
Felix Leiter

Cillian Murphy
He seems to be a fine actor on an upswing.
For those who want to argue too young. See how old Connery was when he made Dr. No.
For those who say too small or thin. Re-watch Brosnan in Goldeneye.
This could be the kind of bold choice that could revitalize the franchise, and maybe give us a guy who will do 6 or 7 films.

I recently thought of Gerard Butler too. I think he'd be as good, maybe better, than Clive.
Or what about Ioan Gruffudd? (King Arthur, Fantastic Four)
But here's a controversial idea: Who says they have to (naturally) have that English accent? What if it were an American actor doing an accent, a la Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft or Rene Zelweger as Bridget Jones?
(I mean, Christian Bale is faking an American accent to play an American icon, why can't the opposite work? The Bond movies are American productions anyway.)
Right now I can't think of an American who would fit, but what if?
