View Full Version : The Fast & The Furious 3
Supposedly, Vin Diesel might come back for a third one. I don't know much about it, since I didn't listen to the audio clip because my RealPlayer wasn't working. But if anyone is able to listen to it, feel free to share what it says.
Here's a link:

Anyway, I'd be game for a third one. I loved the first, and was disappointed by the somewhat boring second one, but still liked it. If they do a third, hopefully it can improve on the sequel, and at least be as enjoyable as the original. I know these movies aren't about writing, but a good script would be nice too. Maybe they could try something different for this one and actually try to make a quality movie, instead of just a fun one.

I can't wait to hear what they will title this one.
"3 Fast 3 Furious"?
"2 Fast 2 Furious 2"?
"2 Fast 2 Furious 2 the Max, Furiously"?
"The Bold and the Beautiful"?
Speculation, come one, come all!
Maybe it will be called DUDE, WHERE'S MY CARBURETOR? ;)

Well wasn't the reason WHY Vin did NOT reprise his role because Rob Cohen was not directing the 2nd film? I am kinda wondering where city-wise the 3rd film is gonna go down? If the right script is drawn up, that might spark Vin's intrest to return.

All the bitchin' about the "Fast/Furious 1/2" movies are unfair to begin with. They're meant to have fun with and enjoy. Plain and simple. Even if the scripts weren't the first priority, the scripts for the first two are decent and not "awful" as people like to say. They're fine. The movie's are meant to be fun. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway...considering that I liked both "The Fast and The Furious" and "2 Fast 2 Furious," (yes, I said it) I'm open-minded to a third. I'm not one who demands sequels right and left, but to end it this "saga" as a trilogy, and have Paul Walker (who's also a GOOD actor in them, yes I just said that), catch up with Vin Diesel's character, would be cool. I mean, if it weren't for bad boy speed demon, Vin Diesel (who was a GOOD actor in the original, yes I just said that), Paul Walker wouldn't have, well, grown balls and become the bad boy speed demon in the sequel. To have him catch up with the original speed demon, would be cool. It's completing a full circle.
Anyway...bring on these speed demons in "The Fast and The Furious 3," or whatever they will call it. I'm ready for it.

Ok this is off topic but here goes... Scarface 98.9 I would like to say HAHAHAHAAHAHAHA I loveeee that avatar of yours. Woo thats really funny stuff.
Ok second, back on topic i neva saw the first 2 because i thought its 2 hrs 4 hrs if u add both movies of my life down the dirtyest shitter ever. Wasted 4 hrs of my life prob watchin those. Im not a person who goes to the movies to watch some assholes who think there "the shit" race cars for 2 hrs...damn if i wanted to stare at crap all day id eat spicy food take a dump and stare at it for 2 hrs and yes i might learn something. If they come out with a third one well all i gotta say is fish and a barrel thats right the movie is the fish behind it is the barrel (gun fires) BAM fish in a barrell.
TA DA---- This movie should be called "movie theatre waste of space" because for all the good movies that could be going into the movie theatres cant because there isnt anymore space cuz some asshole grenlighted this horrible peice of shit and now there arent anymore room for movies to come out and i have to wait for a normal entertaining movie to come out 3 weeks from whenever that came out. So if they do come out with a 3rd one i will shoot myself cuz of theese bullshit movies.

"The villain, Carter, from the second movie gets out of jail. He then seeks to take out Brian and Roman, but wants to ruin their lives first so he goes after Eva Mendas, Suki, and Ludakris, and Dom and co. from the first. Now the survivors have to race for there lives!"

I've seen the first two, and I thought the first was one of the very worst films I've ever seen. I got free tickets to the second, so I went in, but with very low expectations. And you know what? I actualy enjoyed the second one (granted, it has a terrible title, and I don't blame people for avoiding it for the title alone. I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't free). It was a fun time, and the acting wasn't as terribly bad as in the first one. The absence of Vin Diesel helped, too. I'd probably give it 6/10, but that does NOT mean I want a third. Sounds like a terrible idea.

What's all this hate for the "Fast/Furious 1/2" movies?! They aren't aren't THAT bad. At all. In fact, they're more than decent movies. But whatever.
As for the title of the sequel, I don't think that was really something to complain about. I mean, what sounds better, "The Fast and The Furious 2" or "2 Fast 2 Furious"?? The latter title isn't all that bad. Admittedly think its kind of cool, and better than the somewhat awkward-sounding "The Fast and The Furious 2."
As for the third, I'm completely up for it. As as I said in a previous post, it would complete this series/trilogy perfectly if Paul Walker caught up with the original bad boy speed demon, Vin Diesel, since he wound up the bad boy speed demon in the sequel. It completes it full circle. I also think Walker should remain a bad boy street demon and not become an undercover cop in this one He and Diesel should both outrun the cops. Otherwise, I still don't know why people are so uptight about these movies. They're meant for fun, and ARE fun. Again, but whatever. The title of this potential sequel should probably go like this "The Fast and The Furious: The Return of..." (or with some entitle).

I'm just overwhelmed that such a high majority of people (or so it seems) seems to dislike these movies so much. They bash them as if they're the worst movies ever. Well, let me tell ya, there are WAY worse movies out there. A lot of them. The "Fast/Furious 1/2" movies have considerable amount of redeeming values. More redeeming values than a lot of other movies out there. In fact, I can't really identify any serious flaws in these two movies. Not that they're perfect. They're not. I'm not saying that they're masterpieces. But they're good enough movies for what they are: basically action movies about street racing, while trying to deal with realistic characters, that I at least think are portrayed well. But, whatever.

I, for one, would welcome a third one because the first two were enjoyable action films, nothing more and nothing less. Plus, what else does Paul Walker have on his schedule other than Timeline which opens next Wednesday?

Vin Returns for "Furious" 3?
Posted: Monday Dec. 1, 2003 6:30pm (Au-EST)
Author: Garth Franklin
Source:
Ananova reports that Vin Diesel is close to agreeing a return for the third outing in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise according to his fellow co-star Paul Walker whose currently out doing the "Timeline" promotional rounds.
Diesel pulled out of the sequel despite generous pay offers and has said of late he isn't keen on doing sequels to his big hits, the sole exception being the upcoming "Pitch Black" follow-up "Riddick" project. This would be a turnaround though and the Diesel-less "2 Fast 2 Furious" proved that he wasn't financially a necessary element to the success equation.
Walker says "Nothing's definite - you know how this town works! But the sequel did really well and rarely do you see a sequel reach the success of the first one. We actually did much better, so I think we'll go back and do a third one, and we're hoping Vin will be on board. It will be great - me, Tyrese and Vin".
Thanks to 'Cryten' & 'Gary'
You know, if you want to make a movie and plan on having it be a franchise, I would not cast Vin Diesel. He always pulls out of sequels. Fucking idiot! I hate when stars pull out of sequels, most of the time anyway. He didn't want to return for the sequel of The Fast & The Furious, and was supposed to do a xXx series, and now pulls out of that. Yet NOW he actually wants back for another Fast & Furious movie?! Make up your fucking mind! He probably just wants back now because he's jealous that the second didn't need him to be a hit, and grossed almost as much as the first one, and even opened with more its opening weekend.

This news doesn't really surprise me since it seemed obvious that Diesel was attempting to get as much money as he could for the sequel (Didn't he want 20 million or something like that?) and once he discovered that Universal wasn't giving in to his demands he moved on, thinking that the original was a success because of him despite him not being really a known commodity at that time. He then went on to appear in two box office flops in a row with Knockaround Guys and A Man Apart. It was then that it dawned on him that he might need to appear in a hit soon to keep him in the limelight, and hey, what do you know, The Fast and Furious franchise was still going strong so he figured that he could make a return in a surefire hit (The third one will almost assuredly be another hit). I assume that he won't be getting anything close to 20 million now though. Does anyone know what Paul Walker received for the sequel?
Diesel will probably want to be in xxx3 now.

Fast and Furious 1/2 have both been more entertaining then the Bond films since Goldeneye, so they still have room to cap off the sereies of fast and furious with a bang. Unlike the recent bons fliks which in my opinion are dragging to the series' unfortunate death. Bond needs some spicening up.

"Still Fast Still Furious" I say should be the title. I dont know why im defending a movie like this because 1. I hate rap 2. And im not into cars, maybe its just because Vin Diesel is possibly in it and hes my second favorite actor right behind Ed Norton.
The only thing I thought that saved 2 Fast was the great chemistry between Tyrese and Walker I believed because the story was semi-good.
This is from Dark Horizons:
After both films hit big you know there's going to be third "Fast & The Furious" movie, the thing is though many are hearing the first film's main star may be back for another go around. Well today one insider reveals the latest talk on how the torque is coming together:
"Vin Diesel's deal is 99.9 closed. They're keeping this under wraps while they develop the story because he did have a deal for the second pic that he opted out of. Because of his box office as of late (and the growing fear that "Riddick" may not be the blockbuster that the studio is hoping for) this is a no brainer as he's desperate for the stability a franchise offers. Paul Walker's character as of the early treatments is not involved in anything more than a cameo".
That's a bunch of bull. I think Paul should be in it as the main star again. If they're going to bring Vin back, they should bring these two back together. Don't just let Vin decide he wants to come back all of a sudden and have him be the main star. I think they should bring back all of the main characters from the first. But they should at least have Paul back as the main character for more than just a cameo.

I'm not trying to make him holier than thou in any way, but it's obvious it wants to be taken seriously as an actor, which (and I don't care what anyone says) he is (Rent Boiler Room, Muti-Facial, Saving Private Ryan, Knockaround Guys, maybe A Man Apart). So, I could see why he wouldn't want to do sequels to movies that weren't actually critically successful or all that popular. I like Vin Diesel and I really want him to make it, but if it just keeps playing the same roles, he wouldn't be worth watching. I just think, given the right roles and script, he could turn his career around.
I don't like sequels so I could care less if he did one. As long as it's a triliogy, it's ok.

Let's go over the possible titles...
1) The Fast and The Furious 3
Too straight-forward, conventional, and ho-hum.
2) The Fast and The Furious: Vin Diesel's Return (or along the lines of some subtitle)
Could work, but that's become really cliche with a lot of sequels lately.
3) The Fast and The Furious 3: Vin Diesel's Return...
Same as above, just with with the "3" in the title.
4) 3x Fast 3x Furious
Sounds flashy, as was 2 Fast 2 Furious, but I wouldn't mind if they ended up using it. I know many found the title, "2 Fast 2 Furious" lame in its flashyness, but I personally think it worked perfectly with the title. Certainly better than "The Fast and The Furious 2", or a subtitled one.
My verdict: 3x Fast 3x Furious or a subtitled one like "The Fast and The Furious 3: Vin Diesel's Return." At this point in the game, the possible cliched-ness of a subtitled sequel doesn't matter anymore. Either that, or 3x Fast 3x Furious. I wouldn't say that is too flashy.

Finally! You're not alone in liking Paul Walker in the Fast/Furious movies. I liked him in both of them. He was a good actor and had a certain charismic charm in the films. At least I thought so. He should definitely appear in one more Fast/Furious film, meet up with Vin Diesel's character from the original, and end this entertaining and UNDERRATED trilogy with a bang. I can't stand to hear the Paul Walker bashing on the boards. He is NOT that bad of an actor!

The Fast and the Furious had terrible acting, but it was good stupid fun. 2 Fast 2 Furious had some fun parts that lasted as long as the medium coke i chugged down in 30 seconds. Vin Diesel can not come back to the beloved trilogy after abandoning it for the 2nd installment and expect to earn my respect. He has betrayed me and he is a knucklehead. XxX was terrible (the title was even bad when looking for trailers on google a year or so ago hehe). Paul Walker doesn't deserve to come back to the beloved trilogy for a third installment either, he is a tool and his 'ghetto-slang' makes me want to get in a car drive really fast and get away from him! Last week I put my friend's 2F2F dvd in his XBOX and I replayed ridiculous scenes, the CGI is so overused and the grunts and random noises do NOT make sense. The editing was sloppily done and it looks like the directors had a quick second glimpse at the film before putting it out in theatres. This didn't make any difference though because it did fairly well at the box office. You rightfully won my money for the first go round (barely), you robbed me the second time around, and you will NOT rape and deprive me of my hard earned cash for the third go-round. Sorry but its time to close the 'nos' movies as quick as they hit the boost button. Same goes with Matrix (after Revolutions, I felt completely ripped off but I will NOT get into that, perhaps in another thread!)
