Well, it looks really great. Nolan is a capable director and it's about time the series had a fresh start after Schumacher tore it apart.
Thoughts? News?

No offense, maybe it's just me, but what's the point of an official thread? Now that Batman has an ENTIRE forum, why couldn't big news stories have their own threads, in lieu of trying to stuff all the news into one thread, until it nearly impossible to navigate and read?
Anywho, I was disappointed that Christian Bale received the role over Cillian Murphy, but I still look forward to what Nolan does with the series.

Okay, you might be right there.
Bale's a good choice, but I agree, Cillian Murphy would have been perfect. His performance in 28 Days Later was fantastic.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who was rooting for Murphy. I just think he would have brought an entire different approach to the role. Bale can just be Patrick Bateman all over again. I don't want to see Patrick Bateman, I want to see Bruce Wayne!
Murphy would have been so much more...interesting.

I just read on http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&cf=prev&id=1808490909 that Christopher Eccleston may be playing the Scarecrow in a very limited role. Perhaps it will enlargen in the sequel?

I personally think Bale is hands-down perfect for the role of Wayne/Bats.

Did not want to post a new thread on this, as it may have been posted elsewhere.
I heard on the weekend that the new Batman movie will infact have two villains, but not working together. The first quarter of the film has Batman defeating the Scarecrow, and the last 3/4 of the film has him dealing with Ras Al Ghul, who may end up being the true mastemind behind Scarecrow's part of the film. I have also heard that John Malchovich (sp?) is being considered for Ras Al Ghul.
All taken with a grain of salt as this info came from a friend who is deeply into the Batman films, but I did not get a source
Anyone else heard something about this?

So we could have Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Christopher Eccleston, John Malkovich AND Clint Eastwood in a Chris Nolan film?
OH GOD, I'M CUMMINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! :D

Yes, it's shaping up very promisingly for sure.
Now I just hope that Warner Brothers trust Nolan enough to leave him the fuck alone.

Any particular reason you've got something against this thread?
Or are you lobbying to be a mod? :D

Nope. It just annoys me to have a useless, unnecessary thread.

So contribute something worthehile to it and it won't be useless or unnecassary. ;)
For example:
I'm of the opinion that Nolans vision, despite his best intentions, may well be hijacked and appropriated by the execs at Warner Brothers and their belief that they know better.
I would hypothosise that, after the matrix sequals, they'll be much more retiscent in giving complete creative control and final say to Nolan.
What do you think?

Nolan has already established himself as a capable director. Additionally, directing the fifth Batman film is not as great an undertaking as the simultaneous production of 2 extravagant sci-fi films.

Sorry Cyclic, I only posted my rumor here cause I did not want to post a new thread for what basically amounted to rumour, and I did not see any other thread that would have applied.
Maybe we can have a mod change the name of the thread to "Batman 5 news" or something like that, just to keep everyone happy. (Hell, I'm happy, but I'm always happy:) )

No apology necessary. I was probably out of line.

I ask again...
Can anyone see the suits at Warner Brothers impeding Nolans creative vision???

It seems that way, RD.
But if the studio wanted an empty suit to manipulate they could have just hired a total tool to do the job. Nothing about Nolan's past work suggests he is the type to roll over creatively in order to make room to sell lunchboxes and bedsheets. I'm sure Warner Brothers knows this and there isn't a chance in hell Nolan would sign on if he didn't have a large amount of creative sway.
I have high hopes for this one.

Oh so do I Doc.
I just have zero faith in WB.

Just imagine this.
Directed by Nolan.
Set in Gotham City AND London, apparently.
Starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, and possibly Viggo Mortensen and Katie Holmes.
...Now THAT is what I call a Batman flick in the workings there, baby!
