Hey Y'all, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out here.

I recently received a Progressive Scan DVD player as a gift, and was wondering what are the advantages with the TV that I have. I've heard that Progressive scan is useless unless you have an HDTV, or something major.

My TV is 27" and pretty sweet, but I'm not sure if it's in that ballpark. I already have a regular DVD player that works fine so far, so I was just wondering with the TV I have if it would be beneficial for me to install the Progressive Scan one? Here's the link to my TV, I'm sure that will help... (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-GNyMzjaYGj9/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=16&g=154150&I=15827FV310&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Hey bro, that is a NICE TV. Unfortunatley, its not progressive scan compatible. In order to get the benefit of progressive scan from DVD players, the TV has to be able to accept a 480p (thats 480 lines, progressive scan) signal. Its still a nice TV though and Im sure the picture will look great. It'll still look best to use a set of component cables to hook the TV to your DVD player.

Hey dude, thanks for the response. I'll still use this player since it has a built-in receiver and I'll need that for my new surround sound. But as you said, I'll have to turn off the Progressive Scan option.
What you said about the Component Video thing interests me, I've been thinking of buying those cables for a while now. But I must ask, will these get me a better picture than an S-Video hook-up?

Sorry I'm so clueless, heh. :o
