At blockbuster you can rent: We Were Soldiers,Van Wilder,The Sweetest Thing,Showtime or Collateral Damage and if you like it you can buy it for $9.99+x. I think its The Sweetest Thing blockbuster has ever done. I'll get Van Wilder and We Were Soldiers.

I don't think that's a deal for us Canadians. Go to www.blockbuster.ca (http://www.blockbuster.ca) and it won't have it listed in the deals section.

I think that's just an American promo, although it would be great and much cheaper.

Everyone considers Blockbuster the Great Satan and sure they pissed me off more than a few times. But overall I don't have much of a beef with them. I'd like a bigger selection of lesser known films and 5 day new release rental periods as well as fewer former Taco Bell employees (sorry to anyone working there, but they are the complete embodiment of incompetence in my opinion), however I can't argue with all the deals I've gotten there over the years.
That they edit there films is a huge urban legend as I am concerned. I've wrote the company a couple times on the issue and have rented possibly edited titles from different places and am 90% sure they don't.

That deal is stupid. You can only buy a PREVIOUSLY VIEWED DVD, not a new one, and only once that title is deemed "not new" anymore and they start selling their DVDs. Hell, you can go to any store and buy any of those tittles for under 20 dollars...so why bother buying it pre-viewed for 9.99 and renting it for 4 dollars? You might as well buy the thing new.

ya that deal didnt make to much sense to me either, u rent it for 5 bucks, than if you like it, you can buy it "at a later date", so you have to wait to buy the movie gfor 10 bucks, stupid deal i think, ESP because most movies the first week of release are only 15-16 bucks anyway, sometimes 20 bucks BUT if you can get it right away its worth the money to me!

The Canadian Dollar is worth more then the American Dollar, thus...in the end...we end up paying the about the same price for DVDs that Canadians do.

Some of the older DVDs are cheaper, anyway. I bought The Exorcist SE on Thursday for $15.99, which is one of the cheapest prices I've ever paid for a DVD.

I have to agree with you on that.
Also alot of people do not take care of the dvds when they rent them. I rent dvds and find them in bad shape at times.

Yeah I have bought a lot from Blockbuster (mostly from their buy 2 get 1 free deals) though most of them work, you don't get the actual DVD case you get a Blockbuster case that isn't the same size as the slip they try to fit in it. They also put Blockbuster stickers all over the DVD, and if you remove them they leave a sticky substance on the case and on the disc. I've let people borrow some of these DVD's and they got stuck in their players. Also some of my cases are stuck together.
As far the Rent It, Like It, Buy It sale it is nothing different then what they have done for years, they sell their older and overstocked DVD's for $12-15 which really isn't that great. The deal would be better if you could get any DVD I want Dogtown and Z-BoysI would have bought that one from them but it wasn't an option. On the other hand I have got some good deals like Monster's Ball a week after it came out for like $15.
