I'm betting this will end up being more like Spider-Man as oppossed to the dark natures of the Daredevil and Hulk movies, and thus, be a huge success.

Thats a great choice for Johnny actually. I also think Charlize Theron should be Sue Storm Richards, I wonder who would play the perfect Stretch?

Mmmm.....Charlize........great choice. By the way......she's hot!

Stretch? Ralph Fiennes? maybe?

The Thing. None other than.......The Rock!

I think the Thing should be CGI , like Gollum.

adamjohnson

Well, with the makeup they have nowadays, ala Mystique and Nightcrawler (and hopefully Beast!) they could make him easily without CGI. Youd be surprised at just how expensive CGI like that is, so I think theyll go the other route.

The Rain Dog

Clooney would make a perfect Reed Richards.

I'd like to see Matt Damon sign on as Johnny Storm.

Thing? Meh, they'll probably cast Michael Clarke Duncan - isn't that what Hollywood does when they need a big fella these days?

I'm assuming that IF this movie gets made that the villain will be Dr. Doom. He will become the new bad ass supervillain in movies I think.

Hmm yes could be. Could be.... I would want the actor to be able to take the mask off at the end or smething though.

And we ALL know that dooms face was supposedly burned so he put ion, well nope, it healed after he was burned but after the mask was forged he put it on too fast while it was sstill hot and it seared onto his skin.

So go figure.

I think TOM HANKS would play a good Stretch.

George Clooney is a brilliant idea for Mr Fantastic. Thing needs to be CGI but Ben Grimm is a tough casting choice, I'd go with an unknown. Not sure about Sue and Johnny.

The Thing should be played by the actor who played Gimli in Lord of the Rings: John Rhys-Davies

For the rest Clooney, Walker and Theron seem perfect to me.

I think if their aiming for a franchise they shouldn´t make Dr Doom the lead villain of the first movie, maybe the FF have to fight against robots or people with their minds controled, and at the end everything points to Dr. Doom... roll credits and wait 3 years to watch the battle between FF and their nemesis.

Kind of what their doing with Star Wars, you´ve seen Palpatine since the first movie, you know who he´s gonna become but they don´t rush it, their waiting for the last movie to show him as he is, and in the meanwhile they entertain and distract you with some average villain

The Rain Dog

Gary Oldman for Victor Von Doom.

A'ight. I got this one. (Making the Fantastic Four movie has been my life-long dream)

Reed Richards - Bill Pullman
Susan Storm - Marley Shelton
Johnny Storm - Tom Everett Scott
The Thing - Tom Sizemore (Voice)
Doctor Doom - Arnold Vosloo

And I think the age difference between Sue and Reed is fine. Reed is actually supposed to be pretty old compared to Sue. Can you believe they thought about Jude Law as Doctor Doom? Pfft!

The Rain Dog
11-24-2003, 12:17 AM
Who are they considering for Doom cyrrently?

RD

Mog
11-24-2003, 12:46 AM
I don't think they're considering anyone...I haven't heard any news. I do know that one of the writers said that he would've loved to see Alexis Denisof as Reed, Charlize Theron as Sue, Paul Walker as Johnny, John C. Reily as The Thing (voice) and Jude Law as Doctor Doom. Personally, I hope they don't use George Clooney as Reed, like how most people want. He's too obvious and just...doesn't come off as Reed, if you ask me. And Jude Law as Doom HA! No.

Whoever thought of Law for Victor Von Doom should be shot.

Well maybe not shot...

...but certainly wounded at least a little...

shoot him in the hands so he can't type up a script with Law in it. Hee-heee

I've also heard of the John C. Reily as the voice of the Thing. Why doesn't he just do both. If Reed Richards is supposed to be older so is Ben Grimm. And besides, John is not a stranger to action movies.

The Rain Dog

John C Reilly as Thing would work for me personally.

How about Jeremy Irons for Dr.Doom?

Viggo Mortensen would make an excellent Doctor Doom , I mean without the long hair and beard as we know him in Lord Of The Rings.

I love Jeremy Irons... I just hope he wouldn't play it too over the top like in D&D...' Let their blood rain from the skies.....' :D

William Petersen would be a good choice as Reed Richards, if he could shed some pounds.

I'd have Jude Law as the Human Torch and Barbara Crampton as Invisible Girl.

The Thing? Hmmm.... Maybe the voice of Mark Wahlberg. No that was not a joke :p

I wonder how they are going to make Mr. Fantastic stretch without too much obvious CGI ?

What a silly question.

No human can stretch like Mr.Fantastic, therefore it will have to be done with CGI, therefore it will be obvious.

Get over it.

I wish they made a one-shot FF movie budgeted a $400 Million that was set in the 60's and was 4 hrs long with an intermission after the two hour mark, like a throwback to epic movies of yesteryear. Dr Doom should be the main villain, FF kick his funky ass, he dies, end of movie/franchise. Just one epic explosion on screen. Aaaaaaaand I'm awake now :)

I don't get all this Orlando Bloom hype all of a sudden - He doesn't strike me as great at ALL. And as the Human Torch? No. No, no, no. If you ask me, I'm starting to think Sam Huntington (Detroit Rock City, Not Another Teen Movie) could make a good Johnny Storm.

As far as Sean Astin directing, I have no beef with. After LOTR I've kinda built up a new respect for the guy, mainly because his performance touched me the most out of everyone (Elijah was good, too). I also remembered when he directed an episode of Angel last season (Season 4) and he did a great job. So I have no doubt that he would do a good job here...though I think I could do better. :D

I still think if they could afford him, Matt Damon was born to play Johnny personally.

Reed Richards is in his 40's, so Clooney is the obvious choice. As for Sue I don't think Charlize is a good match, maybe that chick from What lies beneath,

And Paul Walker as Johnny Storm can work.

I also agree that Ben Grimm should be an unknown, maybe one of those big wrestler guys from the WWE.

Ryan Gosling or Kip Pardue as Johnny Storm aren't bad ideas if you ask me...espicially Gosling.

I heard 2005, but if they can get it out by the end of '04, that could be some good marketing material.

BTW, I know The Rock is the bigger name - being the wrestling nut that I am - but I think Glenn "Kane" Jacobs would make a good Ben Grimm/Thing.

Let's get this thread up to date (sort of).

I have no direct quotes or links but its been confirmed that this thing will be directed by Tim Story, the director of Barbershop (???). It's posted on a bunch of sites including this one (Upcoming Movies). Posted by space monkey.

It's also confirmed that they're considering casting Michael Chiklis (TV's The Shield) as the Thing. I'm assuming that they mean Ben Grimm & the Thing will be CGI or a big ass costume or something.

I've also heard rumors (once again by space monkey) of them seeking Tim Robbins to play Dr.Doom.

I don't like the direction this is going so far. This should be an epic comic book / sci-fi event & I'm sensing a comedy/parody like Charlie's Angels or Starsky & Hutch. Hopefully I'm jumping to conclusions!!!

Time will tell. . .

Mog

Though it has been confirmed that Story will be very faithful to the source material and not go for a comedic plot, I am still concerned. Apparently they changed Doctor Doom's real name from Victor Von Doom to Victor Van Damn, and he doesn't live in/rule Latveria but has his castle somewhere in the mountains of New York (There's mountains in New York...?). Doctor Doom is my all-time favorite comic book villain, I pray that they don't screw him up TOO much. And, if you ask me, casting Tim Robbins as Doctor Doom is a mistake. Why? He lacks presence, in my opinion. True, he offered SOME presence in films like Arlington Road, but he doesn't strike me as someone that could quite possibly kick Darth Vader's ass.

Just my two cents.

Great. Now they're considering Brendan Fraser to play Mr. Fantastic. I'm about to lose all hope for this seemingly very shitty film.

how about Treat Williams. i saw him in the journey to the center of the earth mini series and thought that he looked exactly like reed richards. in fact the entire cast of that was almost exactly like the fantastic four.

human torchcould probably be freddy prince jr.
those are based intirely on who looks like the characters

Iacon, thats pretty crazy you mention Treat Williams... a week or so back when I was making fantasy casting choices for this flick, I was staring around the room and saw the movie cover of The Substitute 2, which Treat Williams is on and stars in as the lead...and oddly enough, I said "hey he kinda looks like reed"... but I don't think he has good of a chance of being sighted, as they probably want a rapper or young teen heart-throb sadly to play the cast....he wouldn't be the worst idea, thats for sure, with such stupid ideas like Brendan Fraser and Christina Milan already thrown in the mix of rumors for this...
