Scream 4 is now underway. Corutney Cow Arqutte is signed on according to the Zreivew. Since Neve Campbell is being replaced in Cursed, she has singed on to do Scream 4 also. Will David Arqutte come bacl? Who knows, he will be away in the mountains out somewhere doing a Steven King movie. If you know anything about Scream 4 let everyone know, including me.

No kidding. The Scream franchise blows anyways, since it's been overdone and overexposed, kinda like Britney, except that the first Scream was tolerable.

Just when I thought we were full of bad ideas for 5 years wwith the current projects, shootings and releases of movies like Last Samurai, TCM, Freddy vs Jason, Daredevil 2, Elektra, Catwoman, etc... comes THIS! UGH!

I never understod how this series got so much hate when it REVIVED the horror genre as a whole. Its not Screams fault that people ripped it off at every turn. People love Friday the 13 and Nightmare on Elm Street(im one of them) but 3/4ths of each series either sucked or felt like rehashes.

I say bring on Scream 4. The series kept me entertained alot more then most.

Now i shall wait patiently for Mike to read this and flip out.:D

You hit it right on the head. What is this major hate on the scream franchise. I personally thought the entire trilogy was witty, suspenseful, and wonderfully written. more important it embodied real people instead of people we dont care about in horrible situations. Scream 3 was an absolute riot and filled with great writing. And Scream 1 still has one of the best beggnings to any horror film.

Yes aside from reviving the horror genre, which everyone has seem to have forgotten, it did insprire many insipid copiers but is that really their fault.

Scream- 9/10

Scream 2- 7/10

Scream 3- 9/10

Halloween and Friday inspried more crappy movies yet they are never faulted for that.

Still Im not sure about a 4th one. I thought trilogy was great jus t the way it is and should not be added on.

Didn't Wes Craven refuse to do a sequel?

Hmmm... I think I remember reading an article about screenwriter Kevin Williamson who said he wouldn't write anymore Screen scripts past the third.

Im curious how theyll extend it further. Three seem to wrapp everything up quite well.

Wes Craven is not directing Scream 4. And Kevin said he might do Scream 4, he siad he has an idea for a fourth one.

I coulda swore that both Wes Craven and Neve Campbell are signed for a 4th and have to do it whether they want to or not.

Kind of doubt it...I never remember having read anything like this, except about Wes & co. having signed for a full trilogy. As far as I know, everybody's moved on to new things...

Maybe not Wes, but I know Neve has to do it no matter what. I did hear that.

Hopefully they can kill Sidney and Dewey this time.

I think all the movie franchises need to seriously considered the whole sequel thing more. I personally thought that the 3rd movie sucked ass and the only way they should do a 4th one is if they can guarentee that it'll be good and they can FINALLY end it on a good note.

They should pull a Halloween 3 and just do it with different characters. I'm personally sick of Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell.

Or they could do an Alien3 and just kill of all the characters except one and barely even mention it!

Why ?

The first film was good. Second wasn't really anything fantastic but still more watchable than "I know what you did..." Scream 3, they realized enough was enough and decided to the series justice and end it in a trilogy.

Whats no 4 going to be about. The fact the Hollywood can't produce original horror films anymore and have to milk a good concept for all the can get untill it becomes Halloween : Ressurection ?

IMO it revived the most flawed sub-genre of horror: the teen slashers. All the movies that have come after this have been from mediocre to awful, including its sequels. Scream itself is only a good movie due to its ironic look to that own sub-genre.

IMO, the movie that revived the GOOD horror films was The Sixth Sense. Dig it.

Yes, this is true, but like u said it is still a good movie. Its not Screams fault that people blew it out to be something its not.

I ahve to disagree with the fact that Scream was soley good because it had a sense of humor. The Screm trilogy to me was great becuase of its strong characterizations and tight directing. Oh and the irony in the third film was superb

Scream 4?!?!?! I like to see who the mystery killer is gonna be this time and WHY? 1 & 2 made sense where 3 just did NOT add up. Scram, I mean Scream 4 is really pushing it.

I somehow doubt this will ever see the light of day, and nor should it, unless they have something REALLY fresh to bring to the table and they go in a totally new direction.

Personally I'm a fan of the "Scream" series, especially 1 & 2, two of the funnest and wittiest modern horror movies. The third was decent, but it was stiff. They should end it already (I presumed they had).
