You know, someone told me one time that there were maybe two or three people that frequent the internet that had some good conspiracy theories, but we are going to do them on sports.
Of course my first and foremost has to be the 1986 Rose Bowl where Iowa All-American rb Ronnie Harmon fumbled 4 times in the first half ultimatley leading to a blow out loss. You can't tell me that was legit.
The 1972 Olympic basketball farce where the U.S. "lost" to the Russians who got two new unwarranted chance to win the game. Foul play!
The title unification fight between Mike Tyson/Micheal Spinks where Spinks took an early first round dive. Very fishy!
Same scenario Muhammed Ali/Sonny Liston title rematch. Liston took an obvious dive on the famous "phantom punch. Even Ali knew it was a sham.
Why is Morgana the only female to ever post here outside of the "athletes you would sleep with" thread? Is she a spy sent by Joblo himself to find out the dark deep secrets of the sports forum? Is her life in imminant danger? Is it just coincidence? I'm not sure.
Well mull these over guys, and Morgana (if that is your real name:D ) and jump in with some of your own if you see fit.

Again?
UCLA was obviously the better team.

Can we say the Dallas/Sabres cup series where the "foot in the crease" rule need not apply?
Or how about the infamous, Pats Super Bowl run which included a knocked out man on the sidelines, but the ball was touching him...and the mighty TUCK incident.
Sev was the 2nd gunman. :)
Or how about the TWO phantom tags on the 2nd base line during the 1999 Red Sox/Yanks clash?
On the subject of phantom...Someone please explain to a Flyers fan exactly how you can be a foot offsides...without really being offsides?!?

Steve Bartman was paid by the Florida Marlins to interfere with that foul ball. Hence, his free vacation to Florida, compliments of Jeb Bush.

Lets see how come we never see Kerry Fraser ref a game involving 2 canadian teams. I wonder why that is?? Probably can't decide which team to screw the most. Especially when it's Montreal-Toronto. Probably thinks to himself I actually have to ref a bias game for once in his life.

This isn't from pro sports, but....
1998, it's us (the 5th graders) vs. the atheletically inferior but more numerous 4th graders in the annual 4th grade/5th Grade Kickball game. We had beaten the 5th graders in the year before, and were one of the best teams ever assembled in the school thanks to the golden foot of Matt Miller and Marchele Olds.
It was the 9th inning, and it had been a high scoring game. The score was tied 20-20. Both teams had made numerous errors defensivley, and thus the score rose inning by inning. It was the bottom of the inning with the 4th graders up to kick. They had a runner on 3rd, and 2 outs. The kicker kicked the ball right to the short-stop, and the short-stop immediately threw the ball at the runner heading towards home plate. It nailed the runner right in the back. But lo and behold.... HE WAS CALLED SAFE! The umpire (Who was a PARENT of a 4th grader) claimed that the short-stop was throwing the ball to the catcher, and therefore did not intend to hit the runner... which would mean he was safe. There was a roar from my team, and some of the parents even. But alas, the score stood 21-20, we were embarassingly defeated by the 4th graders. :(

A brewing conspiracy could come out of the TCU-Southern Miss game on Thursday (especially in terms of officiating). There is a lot on the line in this game.

Wait & See Agreed! I wish I could be home to watch this game actually. I'm one that believes even if TCU wins, they shouldn't get a BCS bid. There could be conspiracy theories either way if they get one or get denied. It will be interesting to see what happens though.

Barry Bonds winning MVP 3 years in a row has got to be a conspiracy. Especially since he missed quite a few games this year, and really did nothing great at all.

How about THE NEBRASKA CONSPIRACY! (Dum da-dum dum!)
1994: Wins national championship over Penn State, a much better team that was also undefeated and faced much stronger Big 10 competition.
1997: Shares national title with Michigan because of some stupid coaches' poll.
2001: Eric Crouch wins the Heisman over Grossman, Dorsey, and Harrington, who all deserved it much more than he did.
2001: #4 Nebraska, fresh off a 62-38 blowout loss to Colorado, gets to play in the National Championship game because of the stupid BCS. The two teams that should have played in their place, and ahead of them in the polls, were Oregon, and ironically enough, Colorado. Nebraska gets blown out against Miami in the championship game.
And where are Former Nebraska stars Trev Alberts, Tommie Frazier, and Eric Crouch now? Trev does commentary on ESPN, but none of them fared very well once they actually got into the pros. Stupid Nebraska. I have to admit that their 1995 team was pretty damn good though.
